Niels: "I've switched to Luxilon 4G." Me, nodding along: "Oh, cool, I use 4G. Mostly because it lasts so long, I can almost get a month out of--" Niels: "Yea, I break it in about an hour and a half." Never been more clear that I am not playing the same sport as these dudes, lol. Incredible match!

If it makes you feel better, they probably don’t brake in hour and half, but rather they go dead.

@LunarEclipsism1Ай бұрын
@@iLukaSrb nah, 4G basically arrives dead off of the stringer, one of the main perks is that it has better tension maintenance than most other polys. He's breaking 'em.
@willyderpyderpАй бұрын
Keep in mind it also depends on what kind of ball you're hitting. My buddies and I were college players and I had a full western so I would always break strings after a hitting session or 2 and long before players of equal/similar skill who hit a flatter ball with closer to an eastern grip

So good! Love watching big ball players from this camera perspective. Simon had to change strategy and variety at the end to gain advantage over Niels. Love Niels footwork. Even when pushed back on the backhand side he stays low, establishes a strong base and moves through the ball. So hard to do, insane footwork for anyone much less as a freshman in college! FUN set to watch.

Here's where I think the match turned. Simon was working Niels' backhand early and all that did was let Niels groove his backhand. @15:26 Simon changes tactics and starts working Niels corner to corner. So yeah, just as Niels said in the beginning, they are working on his conditioning at USC. Simon won the battle of wits today. Talent was pretty similar.
@ChaunceyDosАй бұрын
Wow, maybe I'm imagining some of it, but how much Neils has improved is astounding. It was especially apparent the first several games, but he looks faster, more balanced, and all of his shots are more purposeful. And he's obviously a smart, humble kid, who knows how good he can get. Great advice from Simon. It's not something that was obvious to me since I wasn't the one playing him, but that made a lot of sense. I don't think it's bad that Niels, at this point in his tennis evolution, is looking to hit more forehands and go for more, it's going to pay off one day, but that advice is something he can apply immediately in a close match. But, yeah, I think he's working towards improvement, and this match was more about that.

I used to use 4G on my 2024 Speed MP, and my balls would sometimes go long or wide by about a foot. Then I strung up with HyperG Soft 1.30 @ 52 lbs; such a game changer! Lots of depth, spin, and power! Can hit heavy higher topspin, or low flat lasers. I highly recommend Niel try this set up! I’m definitely not on their level, but I’m a solid 4.5 player. I've seen an arc in my history in/around tennis. As the '80s began it was very common for people to suggest playing "5 service points". People had become so sick of insane jockeying and even bad calls that they averred away from actual sets. It appears to be swinging back to an acceptance of the game as it is; cheating and all.

Curious to know about Niels grunting. Haven't heard him grunt like that before on the channel till this episode.
