I was very lucky and was able to buy my fathers 1992 Mitsubishi GTO (one of the few real ones outside of Japan) and Ive been able to drive many cars such as the Rx7 and R33 Skyline. However I personally prefer the GTO more, not just because it is speed and looks but because of its weight. It is a heavy car but it just feels more powerful and a lot cleaner when it maneuvers. Especially with the Vr4 and all wheel turning.

If people say Ferraris are unreliable or however it's worded, then the RX-7 was worse. Coming from someone who owned one these cars were terds when it came to build quality and I mean bad. From the interior to the engine things just broke a lot. I can't tell you how many fellow owners had to replace their engines. The ones who didn't had to do the preventative maintenance and replace the vacuum hoses, radiator, etc. just so the car would function. That said, when the car was running it ran really good and was a blast to drive. I just with Mazda would have got it together with these cars and bumped up the quality. It was really pathetic. You would've had to have owned one to understand what I'm talking about.

For track duty... RX7 Hands down, The 3000GT is a PIG. With the rotary although sometimes finicky, are very reliably for track duty if they are properly taken care of. The 8k of revs really helps you find a suitable gear easier in both large and small tracks. You also have ALOT of room in the engine bay for larger engines if you see fit vs the ZxA platform where there isnt even space to fart. I know they will always carry a presence but to run competitive times Ill stick with the RX7.

Depends on the conditions of both the vr4 and the mustang. I love my 3000gt and VR4's (mine is just the base model, 1992) but you have to consider a few things like the mileage and reliability of both cars. If the VR4 has similar miles to your mustang id say go for it, they are a hell of a ride and you dont see them everyday meanwhile everyone and their mother has a mustang. Just be careful, those turbos dont take care of themselves and it may or may not be as reliable as our mustang.

I don't mean to sound cocky, but my first car is my 1994 3000GT. It's not the VR-4, but I've never had problems with it, the car just turned 30 this year, it's mostly the exterior and upholstery tearing on the vehicle, and get this, timing belt. The car only has 66,000 miles on it, I still doubt if I should've made this purchase or went for something I felt would be more reliable like a Honda or a Toyota, but I've yet to have problems with the car, also it has an automatic transmission, save the worst information for last.

Questions to consider: 1. Was the 3000GT, Toyota Supra's, and RX-7's for the young wealthy Gentlemans who were looking for a sports car? Did they know about the car before buying them? 2. The price was the same as a corvette which was a powerhouse car in America. Was there such thing as research or shopping around back then? 3. Or can a kid back then afford a car like this saving up? How do you get involved with pre-orders and manufacturing? 4. How did they end up out in the market? Did they sit a while at the dealership gradually losing value? 5. What are the consensus and statistics on the sale of these cars?
@WestsideCorpes12 жыл бұрын
What year vr4? Mileage? I love my vr4 but keep in mind if it needs a rebuild it might be difficult finding a place to work on it (depending on where you live). There are risks with any car. With that said i'd pick the vr4 simply because it's way more rare then a mustang. That's just my opinion.

Actually that's not entirely true. The 3000gt standard model is listed at 220hp so you are not far off there, but the VR4 from 91 to 93 had only about 300 hp later upgrading to 320hp in years 94+. Also be aware that there is a model around first release named Mitsubishi GTO (3000gt). Though it was a 3000gt it only had just about 280hp. 3000gt are awesome cars, I used to own an sl model, but if your looking to buy get a VR4!

Let's go through the real cons of both cars here, the vr4 is almost flawless, but its just so damn heavy. The rx-7 is a rotary, and unless it is THOROUGHLY maintained, it will blow up. Is go with a vr4 since the rx7 is a risky buy since there's no telling how it was taken care of.

I would rather have the VR4. RX7s were never very reliable or robust and their handling benefits would really only be accessible on a racetrack. The Mitsu was a hugely heavy car but compared to the Mazda it rode like a Caddy and the AWD traction made it not useless in winter.
