Like everyone I'm a big standing seoi nage fan, and I was just thinking that it's a shame there aren't many standing morote seoi nages at high level, and then Lombardo does that! Amazing

I wouldn’t be surprised if Haga and Wolf have that Uchi Mata technique because of Keiji Suzuki. I’ve seen footage of him in wolf’s corner coaching him on the kuzushi for it, and he used that double/back step Uchi mata several times in competition. I think it works very well for taller players because they can initiate the kuzushi without pulling themselves directly to their opponent, or try to get their hips really low on a shorter opponent, then they take a back step to the closer leg since the opponent is already shifted to the side of being thrown. I like it a lot as a taller player.

I think the grand slam was renamed khazakstan gs because of copyright issues, but it’s still in Astana

4:00 the whole Kazakistan military be watching?
@tommyrq1806 ай бұрын
Rent-a-audience! In the military we called this being “volun-told” to show up. 😅 I’m guessing the Kazakh military special forces (long history under Soviet rule) use combat sambo as their martial art, so having them there to watch top-level judo is a good call if that was the purpose. Just my two cents…
