I'm leaning more towards becoming a regular sports coach with a BS in sports management and/or possible a major in kinesiology to have a more well-rounded background in strength conditioning. I do not plan on becoming a exercise physiologist and would like to know if it seems ideal to major in kinesiology?

Typically salaries will increase annually, but it depends on a lot of factors (location, what certifications you have, continuing education, private vs public company, etc)

Hello i have a question.. im working as an electrician for a school but i would like to have a degree.. and idk if i would do the electrical field forever as i want to do something that can help people feel good about themselves and i saw kinesiology and did some research and got interested.. im brand new and was thinking of going to school after saving up money. Any advice? Anything i should read or do research on before i start school?
@drjustinleedpt3 жыл бұрын
If this is a field you are passionate about, I would say go for it! It is super fulfilling and it is a profession that you can feel good about yourself because you can see your direct impact on a weekly basis. It is also gratifying to be able to coach and mentor patients so that their behaviors can change for healthier outcomes in the future. As far as advice goes, I would highly recommend you look into my Online course I created (it’s pinned in the comments). It teaches you everything you need to know to get accepted into PT school. I created it for students like yourself who are lost with the process and need proper guidance so that you don’t waste time and money trying to figure things out. I’ve been in a similar situation as yourself and I remember when I decided to make a career change into physical therapy, I was so lost! That is why I created this course so it can give high-quality guidance

Hello, I’m from Nigeria I already got my bachelors degree in physical therapy and I’m trying to go for my masters degree in the US but I’m at an impasse on what masters degree to go for I interested in working as a sport Physiotherapist Which MSc. Should I go for? MSc kinesiology, exercise physiology, exercise science or this are all the same thing?

If you want to work specifically as a PT in USA,m you HAVE TO get a doctorate, not a masters. However, if you want to work with sports in different ways (not PT), any of those 3 majors are great!

I’ve definitely seen students do this. For example a student was a Spanish major but took additional science courses to fulfill the prerequisites for pt school. If you want to be a personal trainer, you just need to take a certification which you can find online (get the book and self study. Then take the test). You can absolutely make this happen!

Would a kinesiology degree well prepare me to become a PE teacher? Do schools accept these degrees vs a degree in physical education?
@drjustinleedpt3 жыл бұрын
I think getting a major in physical education would be a better fit to become a PE teacher, since it will teach you more knowledge with the versatility of PE and generic human movement. Kinesiology would be more for specific for jobs that require in depth analysis of human movements (like the proper form of lifting weights) or the science of exercise physiology

@drjustinleedpt3 жыл бұрын
It would depend on what job you’re trying to aim for. But regardless, for ANY job, I always recommend trying to shadow that “goal job” and see what the work environment is like. Find 1-3 people to shadow and get the lay of the land. This will help you to determine if you even like the job, the job setting, and population you will be helping

You can definitely get a job with anything related to kinesiology. I think it would be wise to work for a little bit before getting into PT school because it will teach you real life skills that you can refer back to when you’re in grad school.
