Good advice. I had a 98 Z28 before my 97 SS. I did full bolt ons inc: long tube headers , off-road y pipe , ls6 intake manifold, free air lid mod, SLP lid. The final step was a ported stock throttle body and man what a difference that final piece made to tie everything together. Vastly improved throttle response and made the car so much more fun.

Just a tip all u fbody owners. If u notice the wiper arm spring feels stiff when pushed down just spray a little WD40 on them. Pull them up & down until the stiffness fades away. I had this issue with the wiper arms doing just that. Tried that to c if it did the trick yep sure took care of that.

The part that stops body twist is sub frame connectors. I had that done on my '97 firebird. Amazing how much it puts to a end to that issue so common in uni body cars.

Actually, sub frame connectors help prevent flex at the rear of the car. They do nothing at the front. Thanks for watching

I differently noticed the improvement after having them installed back in 2004. Then added the strut tower brace that year then in 2013 replaced the original coil springs that itself helped the ride.

These mods would work on most all cars. I would keep the electric adjustability not that hard to do plus the tracks already fit the car. Just bolt seat to your tracks. I used some camaro seats in my caprice for years then recently got a deal on some scat procar seats awesome racing seats only 200 each but the tracks were very flimsy. Only had to drill 2 holes in each camaro track to bolt seats to it. Was very easy.

I have a 2007 SRT8 Super Bee, & plan on getting a 4th gen Camaro at some point this year. I prefer the 93-97 models. Yes i know the LS1 is better at making power than the LT-1. But, 98-02 camaros front end looks like a Catfish. Lol, but my wife has a 2012 Charger RT, her first mod was Slotted & Drilled Brake Rotors! But, i like your Camaros they are really solid muscle cars. 20 years ago i had a 1988 Camaro it was Dark Rose Metallic, with a classic 383, 5-speed. I miss that camaro. Lol but i love your videos.

No such thing as too much air. With increased air comes increased fuel. Fuel rail, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel pressure regulator. Don't forget about a racing chip or programmer, or custom tune. A bigger throttle body is gonna give you better throttle response and horsepower, especially if the stock one you have is restrictive as hell. One of the really restrictive things about this motor is the exhaust manifolds, heads, and intake manifold. Especailly the exhaust manifold. It's a log made out Iron. Same thing with the heads, made out of iron and restrictive. Get you a nice set of long tubes with a custom tru dual exhaust with x pipe and you will find yourself a very happy man! I use flowmaster mufflers on mine, 40 series.
@CamaroTime4 жыл бұрын
Actually there is such as thing as too much air. If the computer or pump can not keep enough fuel flowing then you have to start doing other things to get it balanced back out. Only thing with chips is, all they really do is increase timing. They help but you then have to get a colder t stat because the extra timing makes the car run hotter. I need to buy a used computer from a pull a parts and send it in to get a true "tune" for the mods I have. Will def. run better. I actually had all the parts (cam, heads, throttle body and intake) to switch it over to the LT4. Just never got the injectors beofore hard times hit and had to sell everything. Thanks for watching

Here is another idea for a mod that I saw for the Optispark . One Guy threaded the drain hole on the bottom of the waterpump and then threaded in a small tube to re route the antifreeze if the water pump fails ( starts leaking ) . That way it doesnt leak all over the Optispark and ruin it .

Well the only problem with that is making sure u still get dynamic balance. Sometimes no room for weights on both insides. Static balance with just weights on center or outer edge is fine for soccer mom and economy ride but wouldn't do it on performance car. I try to dynamic balance everything to keep customers happy.

Headers and tune are the best bang for the buck. I bought a set of Mac mid lengths and y pipe for my 93 Pontiac Firehawk LT1 . Also did the 160 degree thermostat. Very nice. I still am thinking about going long tube. But I will have to do the EGR delete. Also if I do a tune, I will have to send the computer to them or go through dynosteve. So I will be without the car or spend $300. Danged if you do and danged if you don't...LOLI always do my own work as well. I have a '93 Z28 as well. I purchased a pair of Doug's Headers that had the emission compliance connections. I have subsequently removed the EGR system and capped them off. If you don't plan on lowering the car you can run long tubes for any year up to 1997. You will have to have the emissions components tuned out. A fellow name Solomon at LT1PCMTuning.com provided me with a replacement EPROM chip. You will also need a little piggyback adapter for the PCM to accomodate the new chip. From 1994 on wards the cars used a flash based memory. Thanks for the video. Cheers from Canada!

About the throttle body comment about being to big that is wrong eve. With carbs never have to much cfm just have to jet it properly a engine will only pull as much air as it ca. use
@CamaroTime2 жыл бұрын
Really? What about superchargers???? They force more air in correct? Point is, you have to build up to the larger body. You don't go stuffing a big mac in an opening that can only get a regular burger out. if you put the larger body on without having a good path for the extra air and fuel (which the computer will add when it sees the condition) you are wasting , time , money and effort of the engine. Thanks for watching

Sure you can. If you do just the throttle body and nothing else, it is too big for your setup. You are wasting the extra air volume it provides.Do as you wish . Your car. Has anyone owned both the lt1 and ls1? I'm saving up for a 4th gen and all my friends tell me to go for ls1 for 3 reasons. Easier to work on, more power, and more reliability. I'm only gonna be spending about $6k so I want the best bang for my buck
@CamaroTime6 жыл бұрын
I have not in the Camaro line. I have had the LS1 in other cars. My 93 Z has the LT1 and the 12 2SS has the LS3. I would not say one is easier to work on then the other. Both are halfway under the hood. And both suffer from the same problems. Although the LT1 is more prone to leak oil from the timing chain cover. With the LS ,,,there are so many out there so it is so much easier to find parts for it. Mine being a 93 I can not even find year specific headers for it. it is like it is the red headed step child or something.....LOL

Camaro Time ofcourse while I'm saving up I keep cruising the market. The lt1 camaros seem to run for a bit less cash. Ofcourse that makes sense since they a tad older. Ive been researching both engines for months now. Seems like they are both good engines capable of making good power with a few bolt ons. Ls1 seems to have a bit more potential or maybe seems that way because of its popularity. In a few months once all my $$ is here. Ill try to get the best bang for my bucks. Super excited

Go for tge ls1 if you want power. Lt1 is good but the ls1 so much better. I'm about to get a ws6 firebird. It's more cash but a better engine for sure

Yes ls1. Im on my second 93-97 camaro, 1st Z28 lol. Also had an 02 Firehawk 6 speed in my early 20s. Cant beat that LS1.

Which model MSD ignition box is that? And can anyone help me with wiring it up?
@CamaroTime7 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thank you very much for checking out the video. It is the model 6A with their wiring harness www.partsgeek.com/z39fj4b-chevrolet-camaro-engine-wiring-harness.html?MP&PartsGeek+Bing&gb=pp&+1993+chevrolet+camaro+engine+wiring+harness+-+msd+engine+wiring+harness&ad=11620898036 . Really just a plug and play . All I had to do is run a hot wire over to the distribution block on the passenger side fender.

I would go to a junkyard and pull a 350 lt1 out of another camaro and start working on the motor in your garage. New cam, new headers, new intake manifold, alluminum port and polished head, better pistons(forged), if you can overbore with bigger pistons and go 383, that's even better.

Headers are good. It's really not what you get what you pay for, a lot of new companies are making mods for dirt cheap, like DNA motoring and they work... I installed headers on this Camaro, mid length Pace setter headers and yeah they took forever to install. I think I slowly did it over a period of a month because I was working overtime and spending money on mods. But man did they make a difference! I could really feel the difference in power, like I had a new engine lol. What is this y pipe shit? You have a V8 so why not Tru duals? Even if you have to have them custom made, fuck a goddamn y pipe. You can get a cold air intake for really cheap too, you don't need all that brand name shit. Just make sure the intake is a true cold air intake and goes under the engine bay. Had no idea that the msd ignition coil thing you have actaully improved performance. I was more under the impression that they were for race cars that needed more spark(because of the higher octane fuel running). But I guess I'll give it a try. And yeah that strut tower bar makes a difference big time. It connects your front suspension together, of course it will add stability. Do you have an automatic? Try that B&M shift plus. It's badass.

I def want headers......Some day. If I ever do I will then switch to true dual exhaust. The MSD helps in so many ways. I have never once regretted putting it in. Thanks for watching

In Cali I think it’s anything under 79? Doesn’t have to pass emissions. I thought it worked that way everywhere great video btw I fell asleep listening to it last night gave me some good ideas and info
@CamaroTime5 жыл бұрын
Wow. In NC the car has to be 1996 or newer to get emissions and safety inspection. 1995 and older is safety only. Then after 35 years, no inspection
