Poor sleep, rarely ever find parking, dot stress, traffic stress, pissing in jugs, crapping in bags in your truck and virtually every company is not particularly interested in your time off or the efficient of your schedule to make consistent good money.

Good info. In my experience in the midwest these are the best paying...UPS feeders at top pay - 150k potential. Fedex road driver 120k. Fuel hauling at kwik trip and a couple other companies 100k. Many other linehaul opportunities are 100k... just gotta be willing to grind and work crappy shifts sometimes. Truckin takes 60-70 hrs a week for the big bucks.

I agree, they claim it’s “for your protection” but those cameras can also be used against you regardless of fault. The cameras only need to face the road to catch people slamming on the brakes in front of us trying to get rear ended for insurance money and should be on the side mirrors to catch people sideswipping trucks NOT inward looking at the color of my shirt.

@SafeTrucking
@SafeTrucking Жыл бұрын
Fuel haulage is one of the safest jobs in trucking. Because the loads are obviously hazardous, the standards that the companies adhere to are well above any other part of the industry, with the possible exception of refrigerated. Drivers are also generally much better trained and experienced, which means more cautious. Hotheads and wannabe racers don't haul fuel. Trucks and trailers are better maintained; nobody wants a seized brake causing a tyre fire, or a brake failure causing a collision, or fuel leaking from a busted hose or valve. It's not for everyone, but it's definitely not unsafe. When things do go wrong, they go very badly wrong, but that's rare.

@@questtech7148 Sorry to hear that, brother. I'm talking from the perspective of fuel haulage here in Australia, where our regulation is very strict on dangerous goods. I can't recall the last time there was a serious incident in fuel haulage. One of the things that you folks allow which we stopped years ago is unbaffled (smoothbore) tanks. Our have to run baffles every couple of metres, which means no large problem with surge or sloshing and a much smaller risk of rollover. The only tanks that are unbaffled are food products, like milk, and milk tankers have one of the highest rates of rollover of any class of truck. Fuel drivers are among the best paid, as well. Nice to get your perspective mate, thanks.
