1:43 is a Chevy V8. It's a reliable engine that easy to work on, easy to get parts for, and due to the power to weight ratio of a Boss Hoss (that's NOT a Harley), the engine's life is actually expanded due to the light demand this bike places on it.

Some people just want a Harley - even though they come de-tuned so you have to pay Harley even more for a stage 2 kit to get the bikes performance to where it should have been from the factory. But all the extra money they charge their customers for their bikes and the upgrades has allowed them to build a huge network of dealerships, so that you can go on a long road trip and if you break down, you are always near a dealership that can service your bike, which is great! I know what youre thinking, Why would your bike break down? That idea never occurs to you because you ride a Honda.

I now ride an 02' FXSTDI Timken bottom with the Delphi injection. 8400 miles. It will require a high output oil pump to help cooling the engine. 88twins hate the heat. Might as well upgrade to S&S tensioner kit and a oil cooler. Then my Deuce might be worthy for 20k miles, then the tensioners will require another inspection. If you want Reliable, buy a Honda. My buddy rode 80k miles on a Valkerie on just rubber and oil changes. No Harley is capable of running 80k without any problems. Newer Harleys are fly by wire. Without a Harley scan tool, we are screwed to DIY repair! My Deuce is much bigger, sitting next to a new soft tail. The Deuce frame is 2cm bigger than a standard soft tail frame in 2002. Back the right to repair bill, or one day soon, we will be forced to bring our automotive vehicles back to the stealership for repairs. Harleys new bike warranty has so many disqualified loop holes, it's worthless.

The pricing in the UK is mental, they're at least 3X more expensive than what they're worth. They price themselves higher than premium brands like BMW, Ducati and Triumph which offer cooler, faster, more stylish bikes, better dealer networks at a cheaper price. No surprise why you never see HDs in the UK. If they reduced the price by 2/3s they would sell, its a shame

Outside of the evolution Sportster Harley-Davidson has not made a reliable motorcycle for over 20 years when they canceled the Evolution motor. The twin cam and the Milwaukee 8 have so many problems you would have to have a shopping list to write them all down on. Poor quality motorcycles with inferior Parts at high quality prices. Fancy paint and chrome doesn't do you any good when you're sitting on the side of the road dead waiting for a tow truck. My Evolution Sportster has almost 400,000 miles on it in the 20 plus years I've had it on the road and it's still on the original engine. Which is one of the reasons why Harley discontinued the Sportster. Harley mechanics can barely maintain this ones that they have never mind the complicated water-cooled wonders are coming out with. If Harley thinks it is going to out Honda Honda they got another thing coming.

@@cobralife0417 Harley is small beer in the motorcycle world. There are a lot of Harleys on the road but the twin cam and the Milwaukee 8 have a shopping list full of built-in manufacturers defects from using cheap parts. Fancy paint and fancy Chrome does not help you when you have an unreliable motorcycle that has many Avenues to a catastrophic engine failure. A Honda Goldwing can go 10 times the distance any Harley can go and was the first motorcycle that had the odometer go out and extra digit to represent how many hundreds of thousands of miles it has gone. My Russian built Euro sidecar outfit has less mechanical difficulties than most of the people I ride with with their Milwaukee H and their twin cams. That bike is 20 plus years old and is a good running reliable bike. Harley's new Revolution motor is also having difficulties that should have been taken care of in development stages before the motorcycles got to the customer. Electrical failures overheating and some catastrophic engine failure show that Harley has gotten no better and is indeed gotten worse.

I disagree with your comment saying that you get a lot for your money... That's simply not true. I have a '21 KTM Superduke R which I paid, new, $21K CAD... (And had a '12 FLHTK for a while). I'm currently shopping for a '22 Fat Boy, which cost $4K more... but my KTM has bluetooth, cruise control, 6 axis IMU and so much more. And as much as I want my next bike to be a Harley, it troubles me to see how much I'm getting less technology for that price... I mean, even an Indian Chief now has a LCD screen with nav and bluetooth... But hey, it's still a lot of fun to ride a Harley!

I ride a Harley, and I have owned 3. I would have to say this "ad" must have been done a long time ago. One example, are parts really available? The dealer I bought the Heritage from suggested an even trade. Ha, took it to another dealer, sold it out right for $16,750. bought the XL1200c new from a third dealer. The original dealer asked me one day what happened that I would do such a thing? I told him if you want customer loyalty you have to show some!

After long time ownership of multiple HD's, I kinda lost interest after some design element changes... not that there was no room for improvement. They are not perfect, but they are very good and premium bikes. I just felt HD made too many of the models that appealed to me look clownish and awkward. Mainly the whole fat rear tire phase that the early 2000,s "bike builder" craze inspired. HD ruined the Fat Boy with that rear tire/fender change... the bike, in my opinion was no longer proper and balanced with that huge fender width and tire. It ruined the near perfect balance of the Fat Boy in both looks and particularity in how it handled, Also, I saw no point in going beyond 88 CID on the Soft-Tail line... to me, from around 2009, HD no longer set the standard. Instead they began to follow trends and lost their way. I just added two bikes to my garage this summer... a new 650 Interceptor from Royal Enfield and a new Classic 350 from RE... these bikes take me back to all the things I used to find great about HD. Fortunately HD continued to make what I consider their best offering in the 883 Sportster with that beautiful peanut tank and bare bones, raw goodness... now HD has abandon the 883 at a time I think it needs it in their line the most. The 650 Interceptor will now take it's place in modern offerings as "that bike". HD fumbled the ball big with the end of the 883.

The comments people make crack me up. Don't buy a Harley but buy the other brands that try so hard to imitate and mimic Harley Davidson. Honda took the tour pack off the back of their Gold Wing...why? Because Harley... The v-twin engine design is dated but other brands still build them and put them on their bikes. And the line of chrome won't get you home cracks me up. Compare the parts on a Harley to parts on a metric and there is a noticeable difference in quality.

1:43 is a Chevy V8. It's a reliable engine that easy to work on, easy to get parts for, and due to the power to weight ratio of a Boss Hoss (that's NOT a Harley), the engine's life is actually expanded due to the light demand this bike places on it.

On trips I've seen more broken down Harley's than other brands combined. My KZ650 in-line 4 went almost 100K before needing a scheduled overhaul. I guess that's the price of sport riding. Rode with a group of young kids (Honda 350 twin) all day to see the Mekong, and there were no break downs, and no parts truck, or trailers following us. My experience is metric bikes (non Chinese-ium brands) are fun to ride, agile, reliable, and riders are friendly.

I have five Harleys and half the shit he says in this video is absolutely bollocks. Harley's are not low maintenance, especially twin cam Motors. Parts are not always readily available and the dealerships are always a pretty penny. Harley's do however have a large aftermarket following and thank God for that because anything the motor company can do, the aftermarket can do it better and cheaper

harley might be low maintanance if you got one whiche they actualy had a working quality control on. but i drove a new pan america where the engin on a very slow test drive in town where i had to stop on red light gave a horrible noise (metal on metal for sure) and the oil warning lamp and the motor stopped. i could restart it again but that issue i had on the next stop light where i had to stop. drove slowly with low rpm´s. so ... and that was a new bike.

Cutting edge engine? You must have never seen any other motorcycle engine. Yes, they are fairly dependable and you better hope they stay that way due to the cost of dealer maintenance. I have my last Harley now. $135.00 to change a tire? Right. The dealer doesn't make money off of new bikes, it's the repair shop that make Harley dealerships profitable. you lost me one minute into the video when you said there a great design and incredible engine when you were talking about Harley. They are a 1907 design that was stolen from Indian in the early 1900s, and Indian stole the design from aviation/motorcycle guru, glenn Curtis, who figured out how to put a second cylinder on a single cylinder motorcycle engine to make the V twin That would fit in a bicycle frame, which is what motorcycles were in the beginning, bicycles with motors

A big reason not to buy a Harley is parts availability. I mean it’s a terrible idea to be able to get parts for a bike built in the 1970’s from the dealership. Why would you want to maintain an old bike. My brother has a 1997 Honda Shadow Spirit 1100 and we can’t get a new CDI module for it, it’s obsolete and there is no retrofit for it. But my neighbor’s 1978 Harley needed some gaskets to fix an oil leak, as well as brake pads and a clutch cable, and I found all those parts at the dealership. Now he has no excuse to buy a new bike, I was able to fix his for him. So yea, parts being available for old bikes prevents the purchase of new bikes ;)
@davidbell1619 Жыл бұрын
Vintage bike parts are available. You have to hunt for them. My 84 Electra glide has only vintage parts on it. Keep looking, and never never buy from a dealership.
@cascadesouthernmodeltrains7547 Жыл бұрын
@@davidbell1619 The Shadow has no aftermarket support and buying a used CDI for it and potentially get a sour one isn’t something I can’t afford, neither can my brother. Harley on the other hand still offers many parts and gaskets still from the dealership as well as engine pieces being available aftermarket new and vintage used. Again if this was the CDI module on an older Harley I would not feel comfortable buying one without a guarantee on its functionality. I’m not finding anyone online offering a CDI with a guarantee or warranty, most just say unknown couldn’t test.

This is just a joke right? You are showing non-harley bikes (boss hoss, Honda) for 90% of the time, and you are acting like you know nothing about these bikes. -"little expensive", what? these bikes make financial slaves of peoples. Peoples have to get big loans for these bikes, just to be "free"?! -"good quality", man please.. its a big problem with these bikes, especially the newer ones, that the metals and components are cheap. They rust pretty fast and bend like no other. Also the engines are unbalanced (to get the "harley" sound and shakes), which causes engine teares. I am not a Harley hater, i even had one in the past. But please man.. don't tell these lies, you have to help the people that don't know the truth about these bikes instead of confusing them and tell lies. It's almost like you get paid to tell these things. Ps. They only keep their value when you buy them used first.
