I dont ways use a mixer (usually neat or rocks) but I've found diet 7up/ sprite zero go very well with bourbon. The end product might not be for everyone but it makes it taste like candy!

At the high end resturant we often visited after shooting, the bartender, Dave (no we didnt shoot Dave) could alter the ratio of coke syrup to carbinated water, thus giving a much stronger variation of coke. We only pared this with Wild Turkey 101. I miss those days.

I'm assuming and i could be wrong here...but a big part of the aging process is mellowing out the edges on the bourbon...could be why when mixed with coke the cheap ones shine...the edges that would normally be a little harsh actually give it a bit of something....the expensive bourbons that are super smooth but complex loose all their complexity and also become bland due to the smoothness. Like I say though I'm guessing, I like a beam and coke every now and again but I drink everything above that neat.

Yes, she IS cute...actually I’d say pretty...very engaging. To me, cute is like teenage level. She has poise, maturity, definitely someone I’d love to sit down and visit with over a good bourbon. Actually both are very engaging and make a fun team. I bought my first bottle of Pikesville 110 Rye thanks to them. Prior to that I sipped Knob Creek Rye, which is still a favorite Rye. Thanks guys.

I started as a youngster mixing jim beam/wild turkey and coke. I moved on to makers and coke, also love 4 roses yellow label with coke. Recently started drinking knob creek and coke. All have been great and can definitely taste the difference. That said, I'm only 27 and if I'm drinking basil haydens or blantons, I usually order it as an old fashioned or drink it neat with 1 ice cube at home. I love bourbon and am enjoying some eagle rare neat and with a splash of coke as a taste test at the moment.

From what few Bourbons I have tasted so far Makers Mark is my favourite be it neat or on the rocks but my favourite when mixed with Coke is Buffalo Trace, then again I only started drinking Bourbons about a year and a half ago and have many yet to taste.

Honestly I think it's egregious you didn't include Jack Daniel's Black, Jim Beam White, and Evan Williams Black in this comparison. Those are by far the most requested whiskeys I've seen with Coke outside of the well. I'd also include Crown Royal if it wasn't Canadian. Great video though! Hey it’s simple. I love my bourbon. But never be that person to cool to mix up a bourbon. Everyone likes what they like. I love bourbon neat don’t like it on the rocks. But I enjoy a splash of soda on any bourbon regardless of price if I want something sweet.. y’all enjoy yourselves!

For someone who has just discovered bourbon (I was a rum drinker), I'm definitely a mixer. Full glass of ice and go half n half is how I prefer it. But I've tried Beam, Evan Williams, Evan Williams BiB, Elijah Craig, buffalo Trace, and my most recent ones are Larceny and Maker Mark (I've drank every one of these neat as well) and honestly the only place I could have Makers Mark is in the sink mixed or neat. Also, even with coke they all have a particular taste with them. And in my opinion the spendier I go the worse they taste mixed. Great videos! I might try Old crow next.

Two thoughts: 1) Maybe try Mexican Coke with cane sugar, in my experiences you can actually taste the flavors more. 2) Maybe try Rye and coke if you’re looking for flavor and only using 1:2 part method. Tho, I’d rather use ginger ale for both bourbon and rye mixed drinks. Also if you can find Pepsi 1870 canned sodas.....you’re in for a treat!! The cola mixed with any whiskey is just smooth, tasty, and flavorful.

When I was young I drank Makers/Wild Turkey 101 and coke. A friend turned me on to Bourbon and Sprite/7Up. I enjoy it much better when not in the mood for neat. Recently tried Hartfield & Co. with Sprite, Oh my goodness!! Like a bowl of gits smothered in molasses! Sweet corn goodness in a glass!!

I still drink a bourbon and coke with a meal sometimes. I never buy cheap bourbon but when I buy a bourbon I don't particularly care for it goes into an area that I use for mixers. When I have a big party I put my real expensive stuff in the cabinet under the bar. I have too many knucklehead friends who will make mixed drinks with $100+ plus bottles. My real good friends know where the top shelf stuff is and they're welcome to it.

Recently started trying different bourbons and mostly with Coke zero. I think you are using too much Coke. I use a one to one or at most two parts Coke to one bourbon. I have found that Bulleit so far is my favorite followed by Weller's special reserve and Larseny.

Why anyone would have anything other than higher end bourbon in their drinks collecting is beyond me in the first place. So for me its always going to be a mid/higher end bourbon when I have it with coke my personal favourite so far is Gentleman Jack but I have a bottle of Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select on the way so maybe that will surpass it.

If you're going to mix it with Coke the most you need is Early Times. It's not even bourbon proper, it's Kentucky whiskey (because they re-use the barrels) but it's good cheap stuff and anything more is a waste of money and bourbon.

Here's how to fix your drinks. Woodford or Glenlivet 12 both make a massive difference in a Mexican cane sugar Coke. But you have to use the proper ratios (4oz Coke/2oz spirit) and an ice sphere. Your problem in this video is you are watering down your drinks, using the wrong Coke, and not nearly enough whiskey (I can tell by the color as it should look golden not black). I will say I've never paid $12 for a shot of bourbon to add to anything. That's a third of a bottle of Woodford and insane. If you don't have an ice sphere or block, that $12 pour better be served neat.
