Base price is rumored to be near $200,000. Fully loaded $250,00. Dealership markup, $50,000-$100,000 plus. Just look at how much people were paying for the base Stingrays and ZO6. $20-$50k plus over MSRP. A used base first generation C8 with 50,000 miles is just now getting close to original MSRP.

In my opinion your stupid for buying any supercar or hypercar when you can twin turbo a c7zo6 and build the motor to make 1400 whp or more easy not crank friends and for way less than even a c8 zr1. But yes for the brochure shopper and yuppies who hasnt quite made it an know nothing about cars but wants to go fast sure, great deal. And really whos going to use 233 mph as cool as it is. More about usable power and acceleration to 160 is what matters in my opinion.

Addition to above comment. Just watched a C8 video last night, Stingrays on dealer lots priced at $80,000-$105,000, without markup. ZO6's priced at $135,000-$190,000 again, without markup. You'll be lucky to leave a dealership with a ZR1 for under $500,000. Dealership markup is inevitable on the ZR1. Considering a fully loaded ZO6 is nearly $200,000, I seriously doubt that a ZR1 with double the horsepower is going to be the same price. Don't get me started on the upcoming Mustang GTD. It's sure to be marked up to $500,000 by the time it's at dealerships. Allegedly a new generation of the Ford GT is being introduced next year. A modified Mustang for a half million or a legendary supercar for the same price. Considering the last GT was trading hands at nearly a million and well over that now, I don't know what to expect for pricing on the new one, if there is one on the horizon in 2025.

ZR1 was benchmarked against the 911 GT3 and Ferrari 458. Automags expect pricing similar to the GT3 (just under $200k). This is $40k to a couple of million less than a 458, which has a huge range of prices. Top speed is 40mph higher than the GT3 and 30mph higher than the 458.

Nobody is saying it's the best or the fastest. (Of course million dollar cars will be better.) Nobody is saying it will really sell for $160k. (Of course there will be ridiculous dealer markup.) But still... all things considered, it's still one hell of an accomplishment and definitely kicked the competition in the nuts. As far as bang for your buck, nothing else at that level comes close. Great job by Chevy.

You didnt listen to Mark Reuss. For GM to give a actual lap time at the ring the conditions must be spot on, and coming to high performance industry pool is hit or miss. This year was NO DIFFERENT with track conditions SUB optimal for lap times. Lightning lap is the gold standard of track performance worldwide.

Every 5% of performance comes with 95% of the costs. Since the air resistence grows exponentially, and the tyres need to get better exponentially too, that means that it is very hard to surpass that 300 mph mark. They are not competitors to the zr1 at all

In 10 years a Pagani or any of those hypercars mentioned will be worth twice what they're worth today. A Z06 buyer from a year ago has already been burnt while watching nearly the entire $60k markup he paid, evaporate. Of course it doesn't take so much money to build a hypercar that it needs to cost $3 million to turn a profit. But hypercars are about more than just speed, or people would have been satisfied with just dropping V-8's into Pintos and calling it a day.

Nice video. I have owned a 1993 ZR-1 and now own a 2019 ZR1. I have not and still don’t consider my Corvette as a super car. I don’t see this new ZR1 as one either. That said, what GM has done is impressive and even if the car ends up closer to $300K, it’s a bargain when you consider what the Ferrari, Bugatti, McLaren, etc. cost.

When the wealthy are looking for performance, they're not looking for "bang for your buck". They're looking for brand prestige. Doesn't matter how objectively good this Corvette is, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and all the high-perf luxury European brands will have more draw simply by nature of their prestige. It's a Chevrolet at the end of the day. This is also why Cadillac V-series cars aren't doing so hot in sales numbers despite their amazing performance, handing, and technology. Most performance car drivers don't even come close to using the full capabilities of their cars, but they don't care to. It's about having a Ferrari, not driving one as its meant to. The same will go for this Corvette. It will be bought by rich people to store in their climate-controlled garage to take out for Sunday lunch and the occasional car show.

@ for starters, it has Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve, carbon fiber body panels, forged magnesium wheels, drive shaft is carbon fiber, titanium exhaust. This will help to achieve a weight of around 3300 lbs! The ZR1, is heavy!! That would make a huge difference around the track!!
