@@bmstylee Every car produced has tamper proofing built into it from factory. The manufacturers don't want you in the computers messing with, primarily, anything that has to do with emissions. However, there are a lot of smart dudes in the racing business that know their way around computers. If that doesn't work, there's always standalone ECUs. An engine is simply an air pump.

That's the GM guys answer to all vehicles. "Cheap horse power." They forget that eventually, they get older. That's where Ford truly wins. While you may have gotten more "cheap horse power" initially. In the end, you're going to spend countless hours and money. Trying to keep the cheap vehicles running. Fords cost more because they're built to last. Corvette is nothing more than a rich rednecks car. The Ford GT is a pure American Supercar. Its target is not one American made vehicle. Its target is the European supercars. Corvette isn't even in the same realm as the Ford GT.

When I first saw the new ZO6 a few years back in pictures, I thought it was the new Ford GT from the side view and then saw the front and realized it was a Corvette. The Z06 is a bargain and the Ford GT is unattainable unless you are not only very rich but famous as well. Ford is very selective on who gets to own them from new. I love the fact that we have two American supercars to compete with the world.

I bet you can make mods to the 'Vette and make it even quicker...that little engine in the GT has got to be close to being maxed out...putting out much more power than it is now, and it's got to be close to spitting pistons out the tailpipes...Scotty Kilmer touches on this subject some.."little bitty engine in a big vehicle" or "little bitty engine putting out huge HP numbers", equals shorter life/lots of strain on the engine. Why didn't they use the Coyote engine as a starting point on this car, for god's sake?...

Mat Watson is an absolute moron; 'that's the difference between naturally aspirated, and twin turbos' - no. The reason why the Corvette has (relatively) low torque is because it's a flat plane crank. The regular C7 has almost identical torque/horsepower numbers, the Viper (normally aspirated) has high torque, etc.,

The Gen2 GT is a classic. The Gen 3 GT is performance art, but the V-8 in Gen 2 makes it a keeper! The Z06 can’t make up for the 400kg difference but is a future must-own.

The Corvette I discovered in the Gran Turismo game, it is the pathway to challenging race cars without the price burden of owning a race car. Great respect for it because on the track with sticky tyres, stiffened suspension and a sports NA tune up, it can hold it's own against many cars that cost 5 - 10 times more. Mad respect for it, I'm impressed how the game never exaggerated it's real world potential.

But it's a Porsche/Ferrari like formula with the rear mounted engine. So it's not like they made a new archetype of vehicle mechanic. Even the motor isn't a GM original. Less displacement of a 5.5L instead of the typical 6.2......flatplane crank, DOHC, lower torque of only 460ft lbs but high revving 8400rpms to produce 670hp Totally outside of GMs playbook, while also putting the engine in the rear, which is zero corvette style. They made a new car and decided to call it a corvette so they could get it to sell. Imagine Dodge making a 5.0L and sticking it in the back of a challenger and still calling it a Mopar muscle car 🤣 no it's not. Style it like a viper and call it a charger. That's not a Mopar anymore
