A useful feature that I discovered is if you shutdown the engine before you put the vehicle in park you can continue to listen to the media or bluetooth! It was a good review, very informative. I love when this guy comments #4 on the new deadening engine cover, but then says, like everyone else, that the car is definitely louder than the previous model...That cover sounds like a real upgrade. I'd go for the Hybrid Rav4, it partly runs on the electric motors, but more importantly has some noise-canceling material under the hood. He also mentions the big 1cf increase in cargo space, but fails to mention that the 2019 shrunk by 2.5 inches in overage length and has lost over 1.5 inches of front-seat legroom. Why make people space when you provide fractional cargo space? Maybe in the future, Toyota can provide better seating areas with a slidable second seat to increase infrequently used cargo space.

So here's a follow up 6 months later about the transmission problems Toyota denied early on. Mine has the problems. They finally have an ECM update to address the low speed hesitation and lurch. Will it fix the shift shock that occurs right before coming to a stop? Who knows? Did Toyota or the dealer notify me that the fix was available? No, they didn't. The TSB for was published August 15th. Have they done anything to figure out what is causing the unpleasant smell when the heat is on? No, they haven't. What they have done is denied that there was a problem and then quietly released a fix for one of the shifting issues. They said that they learned their lesson with the unintended acceleration fiasco and denial and the subsequent 1.2 billion settlement that they paid. It appears that they haven't.
@mannydrives5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for posting. I'm not in the service side of things but did you get the update?
@chris27904 жыл бұрын
@@mannydrives I did. I asked them to check out the hard shift when stopping again as well, and they compared it to others on the lot and said mine behaved like theirs so it was "normal". LOL. Anyway, I picked it up and the coast, go, and lurch issue was gone. Still had the hard shift on stop. About two days later I noticed that the hard shift on stop disappeared too. Yay! Does that mean my Rav is now "not normal"??? I have had a few occasions where I normally would have had the coast, go, and jerk symptom and the car didn't shift seamlessly with constant acceleration, but it was not anywhere as bad as it was before. I've also noticed slightly hard shifting sometimes around 4th or 5th gear, and the other night it seemed to be acting up a little at lower speeds again, but nothing amiss on the next drive. So it's much better overall, but something still seems to be off. Time will tell. Hate to say it, but Toyota is not very honest or transparent. Very disappointed in them.
@mannydrives4 жыл бұрын
Chris glad to hear it worked out. It may not seem like it but Toyota is one of the most transparent companies that will fix things like rusted subframes on cars well out of warranty.
@chris27904 жыл бұрын
@@mannydrives My experience with them on this was terrible. They denied it was a problem to begin with and the representative they sent out to diagnose to begin with suggested I should be happy with a malfunctioning transmission, and that maybe I should try things like use higher octane gas than what the manual called for to try alleviate symptoms. Then, as I mentioned above, they never bothered to contact me that they had an update to address the "non-issue". The update is a "hack" in the sense that they needed to change the software to avoid triggering the problem in some some vehicles versus addressing the root cause and fixing that. As you know, a large percentage of vehicles don't have this problem, and they are all supposed to be the same off of the assembly line, which means transmissions with the problem have some sort of mechanical issue going on. This doesn't bode well for the service life of those transmissions. It may run a long time, but it very well may not. We'll see. Toyota hasn't and likely won't say what caused the issue - not very transparent of them. Also, I had an issue w/ a '15 Rav4 that had the cloth driver's arm rest fabric pulling off in the curved section. I didn't rest my arm there, or mess it up in any other way, so it wasn't wear and tear, yet it was like pulling teeth to get them to fix it - it happened just inside warranty, but I didn't get it in until just after. Then, two weeks out, the passenger side did the same thing, and I rarely had a passenger there, and I took good car of the vehicle. I called Toyota about it, but they said "no, we already gave you one courtesy repair". Before I had a chance to pursue it, the vehicle was totaled by a tree. I doubt I would have gotten anywhere w/ Toyota despite it being a design/quality control issue. I still had over two years to pay on it and the interior was falling apart through no fault of my own. Regarding the sub-frames they replaced out of warranty, they really had no choice. The frame rot issue was massive and the problem was substantial. They would have taken a significant hit from reduced customer confidence and/or a lawsuit.

Entune 3.0 has Toyota+Alexa voice activation that allows you to control starting/stopping engine and unlocking/locking doors from your home or phone (I'm using a Samsung S7 Edge). Also it allows you to control smart home items (lights and plugs etc) from car with voice. Lastly, can play Pandora or Amazon music with many Echo features that make it more entertaining for any length drives.

You could just have one installed if it’s important to you, as long as your dealership has a body shop they should be able to help.

There few more things people didn’t know is that 1. you will never reach 41mpg combine no matter how careful your driving is. 2. Be prepare with a sticker price shock and yes... NO DISCOUNT because it’s a hot ticket item. 3. Toyota stupidly charge extra only $250 for panoramic sunroof but the catch is that it hard to find one and or color that you want. 4. The line of model is just too many so they can go deeper in into your pocket like they are doing you a favor giving you more choices.

So I just watched the video on how to remove the cross bars on my 2021 Toyota Rav 4. I love a moon roof but I don't understand why Toyota placed the cross bar over the moon roof. I tried to slide the crossbars back but they are set on a hole already in the side rails. It's really hard to drive with the moon roof open with the cross bars over the opened window, the sound is similar to a plane flying overhead. Having grown up near JFK Airport in NY, I know what a plane flying overhead sounds like. Does anyone have a solution to this situation besides taking the crossbars off completely. Other than this situation I love my 2021 Toyota Rav 4. I traded in my 2018 and it's a great car.
