Pick scrapes, mine still suck. I think because I rely more heavy fuzz than distortion/overdrive/sustain. I have a Boss Metal Zone I am going to Waza mod and do other mods to get rid of the bee 🐝 buzz, and string noise from maybe too much sustain and also my muting technique. Pedal mods and guitar work have been a fun off shoot of learning guitar. Thanks for all the tips that are here, no easy way around getting it right other than practicing at least a couple hours a day for me but usually much more than that.

Absolutely! No substitute for practice. I prefer amp overdrive from a vintage tube amp, with maybe a tube screamer if needed. That definitely brings the pick slides right to the forefront. But some fuzz can be fun too.

No pedals. Just straight into the overdrive channel on a Mesa Rect-O-Verb (Single Rectifier) 50 Watt amp. The guitar has P-90 pickups.

Pls help. It’s been a month and my power chords still sound like a busted banjo 😢
@ScottGuitar4 ай бұрын
There really is no trick with power chords unfortunately. The best thing to do is slow down and focus on getting your fingers in the correct position without touching the other strings. Start with just playing 2 note power chords with your index finger and ring finger, then work your way up to a 3 note power chord, using your index finger to play the root note and your ring finger and pinky to play the other notes. Make sure to curl (or bridge) your ring and pinky up enough to not touch the other strings. Just takes lots of practice!

@@ScottGuitar Ty for the help. lol Depression has become my daily practice song, super inspiring. I’ve noticed 2 note sounds just about the same to get it done but it’s noticeable if u care haha

The "my war" riff isn't correct. I learned a lot by playing along with Black Flag records as a teenager. Juat recently recorded a cover of "Three Nights" from side B of the My War LP with my band.
