The HISS tank’s elevating turret is actually a very interesting concept to me. I’d imagine it would have to be like the Armata turret with no crew in it. The idea would be that the tank could sit behind a hill or other such cover, raise its turret, and engage the enemy while keeping the crew safe. I know a hull-down position does the same thing, but the elevation capability would provide more versatility, allowing the tank to go hull-down behind much higher cover

@@Vorteks47 yeah. Overall I wouldn’t expect such vehicles to be a MBT, more like American turreted tank destroyers than anything. #7 (2:50) The interesting thing is that despite being a movie prop it's actually a fully functional tank: It can propel itself, it is made out of real steel plates (though not of armor-grade quality), and even the guns are real (it was cheaper to buy them than to build them). If that movie prop was sent back in time to the movie's setting (1937), it could be used as a real tank.

My favorite thing about those is that there's a number of ArmA 3 mods to add 40k gear and vehicles, and in almost all of them the already janky ArmA physics engine throws an absolute tantrum because its trying to comprehend the absurd centers of gravity on Imperial vehicles. Hydras pretty much flip over and somersault down hills as often as they drive in a straight line.

That G.I.Joe tank creation is mostly based on the British Praying Mantis MG Carrier , a not so non-existing or fake tracked vehicle .The Praying Mantis was an experimental machine gun carrier designed by a private developer for the British Army during the Second World War. It is in competition with the Kugelpanzer as one of the strangest armored vehicle designs ever produced. It could be said that it is 'typically British' in its eccentricity. That Hydra tank's gun seems based on a 600mm Karl Morser but integrated into a far more protected & huge tracked gun emplacement .

BTW the tank from Indiana Jones is actually a replica of german modification of captured British Mark IV, its turret is made by Krupp and originally made for the Großtraktor medium tank that newer got in production. Only 6 German Mark IV variants were in real life. All were used for training purpose like the Großtraktor was. I think why they did it from bulldozer in Indiana Jones, because originally also Mark tanks were originally designed from tracked farm tractors/bulldozers.

How about that crazy airdrop tank they featured in that A-Team movie which allowed them to fire the main gun to decelerate their descent.... ....without ear protection.... ....and yet magically dampening the percussive shock that would otherwise pulverize their inner ear structure.... ....seriously, hearing loss would be the least of your worries, you'd be dizzy for the rest of your life! I mean, think back to the dizziest you've ever felt, ever, and imagine that for the rest of your life. Now imagine being that dizzy, and having to go to the bathroom, or trying to follow a host to your table weaving between other tables at a nice restaurant and your spouse gets pissed at you, accusing you of ruining your anniversary by repeatedly spinning around knocking over other guests' tables, which isn't helped by all the "accidents" you've been having all over the house. That's a magic goddamn tank if I ever saw one, ffs.

Just seeing the moon tank move does tend to make one think there's an actual tracked vehicle under there, you can see the driver "chopping up" the turns into straight segments, a process that keep the tracks from walking off their moorings. Given the timeframe, it was probably a war surplus Bren Gun Carrier or derivative, as they were available in such great numbers that at least one guy bought one to use as a garden tractor.

Actually, I think the TX-225 occupier tank from Rogue one: A Star Wars story is more viable than the Snail Tank. (not to be that person), and, its tracked with 2 tracks like any regular tank nowadays (the og concept was gonna be a hovertank which is what some people might say it is)

Real tanks: the tracks are our biggest weakness, one round or IED hit would make the whole tank immobile, as good as dead. Star Wars: HUGE TRIANGLE WITH ONE TRACK GOING DOWN THE MIDDLE.

The Indiana Jones tank was a MkIV(Male) Tank (designed for WWI but didn't enter service in the UK until 1919 and was made until 1922)

I'd just like to know where does the Tank(s) from League of Extraordinary Gentlemen fit? Being loosely based upon the unmade Mk.VI British tank (little history lesson the Mk.II & Mk.III were batches of Mk.I with the in-field improvements incorporated; the Mk.IV was the "Full Facelift"/ mid-series upgrade; the Mk.V was another one; the Mk.VI was to be a "François style" with a single central hull mounted cannon and machine guns in the near flush side doors; the Mk.VII was to be a stretched Mk.V with both cannon and machine guns in sponsons; the Mk.VIII was the "Liberty" which was a more rounded rhomboid and never saw service other than "training"; the Mk.IX and Mk.X were early Armoured Personnel Carriers, with sliding side doors, if they didn't asphyxiate them first.) However considering the film is set at that 1898-1900 period, that's about 17-19 years too early.... the other contender as inspiration is the infamous "Steam Tank" prototype, a steam powered Mk.V, but larger, and fitted with a flame thrower.

I'll be honest, the Indiana Jones tank really doesn't look too bad. I mean it certainly looks like a conversion that could have been at least considered at some point

Fun fact, the popular looks we find on the Ratte is actually nowhere near how it was planned. There is a (german) channel named Bacuffz who made a video on it.

Where's the Warhammer tanks? It'd be awesome to see a video about interesting fictional tracked armor vehicle's in roll playing games along with some more in the video gaming platforms, Killzone for starters the ones in Halo, and Im not sure which of the Aliens platform series it is, but I think there's somewhere among those, not the wheeled apc in the 2nd movie, somewhere in one of the games as a backdrop effect with the colonial Marines, or it could have been in one of the comic book series, but not sure, if anyone has info on especially that one? Id love to hear what you know. Anyway,.. Love this show! And my friends that I've shared this with, all love it too, cause we're all tank track nuts! Thank you! Can't wait to see your next one as usual!

Yeah, Cone should really do the Killzone tanks. BTW when I played the original Killzone on my PS2, I managed to kill Helghast tanks and hover APCs with only hand grenades. Most people think that's impossible but I've done it enough times to prove otherwise. You can also use rifle grenades from the ISA assault rifle too - the trick is good aim and for the hand grenades, aiming for the front glacis plate of the APC.

At the beginning of the 20th century, a super-secret battle tank was built in the laboratories of the First Reichsmacht, which possessed combat power and superweapons, which were long ahead of their time. In order to test the tank, and at the same time not to destroy Europe ahead of time, it was thrown into Central Africa to enslave the rebellious Zusuls. After a while, for safety reasons, everyone who knew about the existence of this project was destroyed, and the tank was forgotten. However, its fearless crew consists of: - Commander, Major von Schwalzkopf XII, - gunner Hans Schmulke, - and simple soldiers of Drankel and Zhrankel, did not forget about their great mission and were ready to fulfill their duty to the end. In the annals of history, this secret project remained under the name ... "Iron Kaput"

The Tank Girl tank is really quite faithful to the artwork from the comic - which is more than you can say for the film.
