I feel like Danielle Bisutti as Freya was hugely underrated in Ragnarok - that scene after the Nidhogg fight where she was finally freed from Odin's imprisonment was incredible acting - conveyed absolutely every emotion to a tee

Was quite surprised cohh didn't include chaos gate, he was playing it at the same time as King arthur and seemed to be really digging both at the time, otherwise 3 very comprehensive lists, always look forwards to these end of year wrap ups and this one didn't disappoint 👏 heres to a cracking 2023

I assume I'm in the minority, but I have never owned a Playstation. Therefore, I have never played any of their exclusives. I might be doing my self a disservice by not playing their exclusives but I don't miss what I can't play. I have always been against exclusives on a platform. That being said, I've always enjoyed the xbox systems which is why i continue to buy xbox consoles. I also disapprove of their exclusives (or lack there of). So when Cohh mentions why a game didn't get as much attention as it could have, he's not wrong at all.

One suggestion - instead of doing preview of 2023, do fantasy games critic for 2023. It's the same thing, just a gamification of the preview - and it's surprisingly very fun.

As someone who also had an extremely close pick between ER and GoW and ultimately and barely picked GoW, I absolutely emphasize with Cohh’s agony over this lmao. I think what is the biggest factor will ultimately be how well and deep you resonate with Kratos & Atreus moments and their father son dynamic throughout the majority of the game. It affected me to great lengths because of how homesick I was and thus elevated the game above ER at the end. I can’t imagine anyone not picking ER if they didn’t get anything from those incredible moments though.

OW2 is a funny one because as much as JP says is right, its very successful. It is doing better than even launch OW and it goes under the radar a lot, the power of F2P. It is doing better than Warzone 2 even famously recently which is its own mess.

Great lists this year with the caveat that any game that is a platform exclusive cannot be GotY in my opinion. when your judging every piece of the game that aspect cant just be ignored.

GoW series has an okay story, but for me the combat is just far too repetitive even when you have weapons to choose from. The two new ones look good graphics wise, have good voice acting (mostly), but I just get bored with that kind of combat all the time, I would rather either many more easier enemies where you feel super strong OR fewer harder ones with individual move sets that you need to learn to beat (aka DS/Elden Ring). The opposite is something I don't like as much with DS/Elden ring, I LOVE story and lore and while there is some in the Souls games you have to comb through every tiny piece of script on items and just guess what happened. Just not my story telling preference. And Horizon falls into the same thing as GoW for me, interesting story but repetitive combat and side quests.

I'm a gacha gamer, I've spent tens of thousands of euros the past 10 years on these types of games. Diablo Immortal had two issues: First, it was a decade behind in monetization. Nowadays, mobile games provide a good free to play experience while offering a better experience for people who are willing to pay for it. Second is it was a Diablo game.

Looking over the 4 different top 10 lists, made me realize 2022 was really bad for games for my taste. Only 5 games that Im interested in eventually playing: King Arthur Midnight Suns V Rising, maybe when its actually finished Horizon Forbidden West when its eventually released on PC Chained Echoes thanks to JPs endorsement I didn't play any of the games on those lists, except a bit of V Rising during a free weekend to go, Ill probably play this when its actually finished. In fact, I don't think I played many games released in 2022, just older games, am currently playing Persona 5 Royal (PC).
