I’m actually surprised Kirby’s Dream Collection wasn’t on here. Yeah, it may be sorta redundant now given NSO has nearly all the games featured in the collection, but it had the More Special Stages mode, which not only showed that Magolor survived the events of Return to Dream Land (though this was prior to the remake), but it also brought back the Smash Bros. ability first seen in Amazing Mirror which would then return in Planet Robobot. And then you have the timeline of events regarding the franchise up to that point (and even listing real world events that took place), which is the section of the game where you can watch 3 select episodes of the Kirby anime! And then (we’re still not done) you have the included booklet that featured all sorts of concept material (some of which Sakurai showed on his KZbin channel), including an early concept artwork of Meta Knight which would inspire Morpho Knight! And then you have the soundtrack CD with 45 songs from across the series up to Return to Dream Land, 3 of which were new arrangements! Yeah, this was a jam-packed collection. Maybe not the best one out there as evident by some of the entries on your list, but definitely a lot better than the modern Mario collections.

Well, now that I think about it, we didn't see MCC on the list, and then again, CE and 2 would be the only ones considered retro currently. But then again, QG _did_ have the Zero/ZX Legacy Collection in a big MegaMan entry, and the most recent game in that one came out back in 2007, the same year as Halo 3, and Halo 4 did come out in 2012, two years before MCC.
@michaelnelson1127Ай бұрын
I agree. I got the collection when it was new, and I loved it! Not only did it allow me to play Kirby’s first games (though I mainly just played Crystal Shards), but being able to watch episodes of the anime on demand was a real treat.

The Digital Circus plushies just keep appearing. In terms of collections, the Mega Man Legacy Collections are incredible. The fact that we have almost the entire Mega Man franchise on modern hardware (excluding StarForce and Legends) is incredible. Wish we got the Game Boy titles though.
@BaxterAndLunala3 ай бұрын
If we end up getting a Legacy Collection for those games, it'll probably be like the Zero/ZX Legacy Collection, as Legends has only two games (not counting Misadventures of Tronne Bonne) and StarForce has three games, each with a separate version.

Oh, fun fact! It wasnt entirely just grading that massively bumped up the prices of retro games! There's a grading company that was colluding with another auction company (I forget the names) to artificially bump up the prices of the games they were selling to be WAY more than they were worth. They're still under investigation iirc

Kinda disappointing that Sonic Mega Collection didn’t make it onto the list, even as an honourable mention. Containing the classic Sonic catalogue, sans the Saturn games, Knuckles’ Chaotix and CD, it was essentially the game that made my childhood, between the various games available, the unlockable ability to learn about cheats and special tips, and the Plus variation’s upgrade to include the Game Gear games, alongside Ristar. I wish more people who hadn’t experienced the Mega Drive era of gaming had the chance to play it. It’s a great experience, even if obviously old-school.

I personally love the Crash and Spyro remake/remasters. It’s thanks to this collection that I experienced Crash 1, Spyro 1, and Spyro 3 before I would later buy them for my childhood console. While it may not have the details of other collections, I just love knowing that there are more accessible versions of these six games. Though goodness I love the Crash Team Racing remake. It is awesome that every track from Nitro Kart made their way into this remake. Plus all of the CNK bosses being playable like GBA was a dream come true. There were also new tracks and characters that came in seasonal updates! In one update, Beenox would remove the limitation of certain characters effectively being better than others because of the “engine” they had. The only negative thing I have to say was Activision shoving micro transactions used to effectively skip the grind to get coins for new characters and cosmetics. (But screw them I literally have everything and a CRAP TON of useless coins.)

Bro, this was such an awesome retrospective of video game compilations via a Top 10. While watching, I was playing King of Fighters 94 and was thinking Number 1 was going to be SNK until I realized that you can’t beat Atari 50 considering how big it was when it released back in 2022 and the fact that the details in it are so special that it’s going to be hard to top nowadays. Also Fun Fact: One of the Namco Museum collections: Namcot Collection on Switch released psychically in Japan only, one of the games on it is Digital Devil Story Megami Tensei (aka the original game that laid the foundation of my favorite video game franchise of all time, Shin Megami Tensei) Either way Great Episode as always The Quarter Guy.

I cannot tell you how much I want Disney Afternoon Collection on Switch and also for Sega to care more about their games that aren't on Genesis, CD, and Dreamcast. Granted, Panzer Dragoon Saga is unlikely since they lost the source code and I guess reverse engineering the game(if you can even get the source code that way) would take waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long to get it working, but there are still so many others out there that could be rereleased, I'd argue. Speaking of, if you like older games in already existing games, get Panzer Dragoon Orta on your Xbox One or Series X/S. It's a great game in its own right, and you unlock the original first game to play(though, I couldn't figure out how to save progress, if I can even do that, so you might have to play it in one sitting like the old days). Edit: Oh, also, glad you put in all the MegaMan collections, as I was so excited for Zero/ZX to come back, played through the first 5 games till I got burnt out trying to get all the sub tanks and face Omega(I still had an absolute blast), and I am so sad that that collection didn't sell well. Ntm the Battle Network one didn't even come to Xbox *because* of poor sales.

so saw friend in comments already mention the Kirby Dream Collection so I might as well add to the big list of Namco methods mentioned since it's one I grew up with. Sure I had played a friend's copy of one of the Xbox Museum entries, but my first real foray into Namco's arcade lineup, or at least Pac-Man's specifically, was Pac-Man World 2. Those who haven't played that game are probably asking how. Well one of the collectibles in the game are arcade tokens & when you collect enough of them then head back to Pac-Man's village, they give you access to the local arcade that had a few classic Pac-Man games in it. I had mainly played Pac-Attack & Pac-Mania but there was also the OG game & Ms Pac-Man (which might prove a problem for a potential future remake but I'd like to not think about that right now).

Computer seems like a more permanent way to keep those games accessible (also maybe make us be able to buy, not hire, some), and wouldnt that be a way for some of the bigger series like pokemon, kirby and mario to put some of their early games in easy access for kids to discover them and then want a nintendo console? 10. Seriously. If they were gonna port this to the Wii. Why not go with the later version that added Super Mario World? 9. No comment. 8. I know how expensive Dracula X was back when a CERTAIN KZbinr reviewed Rondo of Blood. But it being in the Advance Collection was still weird. 7. Agreed. People may want it on Switch. But I agree that it's sad that it hasn't come to PC. 6. No comment. 5. Still find it weird that Prime 2's multiplayer music was added to Smash Bros. 4. My big complaint is the added menu caused a lot of lag for some PCs (Mine included) I blame the usage of Unity. But still. 3. I sadly have 2 big complaints with the Battle Network compilations. 1. You need to turn on Silent Mode everytime you boot the games. And 2. No DS version of 5. Even though they had a DS emulator they used for the ZX games. 2. Bad news in regard to the Namco Evercade games. They only work on the OG Evercades. This is a reminder that rights issues STINK. My personal honorable mention would be the Crash N Sane Trilogy. It not only gave Crash 1 a proper save feature (So no more hunting down emblems or relying on passwords that get insanely long) But they also added a cut level in an update. 1. Take this with a grain of salt. But I have heard that Atari will allow Digital Eclipse to work with other companies (Though the merger thing is valid because I think Microsoft being allowed to buy as many companies as they have is a HUGE MISTAKE)
