The only parts of the Ghostbusters game I found actually terrifying were when you were left all alone to fend for yourself, as it was a real test of you skills with no one to pick you back up. Special mention to when you get dropped into the catacombs in chapter 6 where you're stuck dealing with some real nasty ghosts in a dark dungeon without even any means of contact with the others to lighten the mood

I loved the game but I hated that part. I'm a scaredy cat whenever I have to deal with paranormal shit by myself. When I played that chapter, I was tense like 'Lockdown Fear Mode' meaning whatever comes out from the darkness I will scream, flinch, or even pause the game for a second before I compose myself. I know I love singing the theme song but I'm afraid of ghosts no matter what. Lol, maybe I shouldn't be a Ghostbuster.

Ditto, especially on Professional mode. All it takes are a few hits and you're down for the count, and the only thing you get to save yourself is (rather slow) health regeneration.

Eh, doubt it. Mostly because if the name was meant to be a racist jab, it's WAY too subtle for Lovecraft, when he wanted to be racist about something, he did not hide it in the least. This is guy that named a cat that was a key part of the story and so constantly having his name said N*****rman and described a black boxer as pretty much nothing but a shaved gorilla. When he was being racist, he was in your face about it.

One of my favorite Zombie games is Yakuza: Dead Souls to give you an idea of the plot it's basically this "Badass former Japanese gangster and his one-eyed psychotic yet hilarious best friend go on a mission to save said badass former Japanese gangster's adopted J-Pop Idol daughter from an old enemy while at the same time having to save Japan and the rest of the world from a Zombie Apocalypse" and no I'm not making that up. Another fun wacky, and outlandish horror-type game is the non-canon epilogue DLC for Sleeping Dogs simply titled Nightmare at North Point basically the plot is this Wei the anti-hero undercover HKMP cop who took down the Sun-On-Yee triad is hoping to enjoy a peaceful Halloween-type festival with whatever girl he got together with in the main game but his peaceful evening is ruined when Big Smile Lee a former gangster betrayed by the Sun-On-Yee triad years before the events of Sleeping Dogs returns from the grave as a Jiang-Shi with plans to take his vengeance on the Sun-On-Yee triad and the world by conquering the planet with his army made up of Jiang-Shi, and various criminals that Wei killed due to Lee resurrecting them as demons, and just for kicks decides to kidnap Wei's girlfriend with the intention of turning her into his Jiang-Shi queen and after drinking a "magic potion that has gasoline as a ingredient for some reason" that the local store owner knows how to make somehow Wei sets out on a quest to save his girlfriend, and the world from a army made up of both Jiang-Shi and resurrected criminals. And before asking yes Sleeping Dogs: Nightmare at North Point has tons of references to the action-comedy film "Big Trouble in Little China". Also congrats on the marriage Josh.

Another Honorable mention: Jumpstart Adventure 4th Grade Haunted Island. Another educational game where you are on a creepy island with a rescue mission. While it does had some fun and challenging mini-games to play, It has an eerie atmosphere when you are walking around the island in first person view with a ghost who's named "Casper" spelled backwards stalking you. This game is deemed too scary for kids so they changed the 4th grade curriculum game into a scooby-doo-esque mystery in the mining mountain without the spookiness.

Weddings of family members are scary enough. I once saw one of the guys standing on the groom's side overheat and faint, crashing against a prop pillar made out of what I can only hope was one of the softer minerals, but sounded like it was as hard as glass.

The real kicker about sprouting in Grim Fandango is that it literally boots you back into the living world, presumably as a random newborn. Though it can be assumed that the person's memories don't carry over, so at least there's no existential dread of possibly getting stuck in a cycle of dying, going to the land of the dead, getting sprouted, and starting over continuously.

This was still pretty good, not perfect, but still high quality. Typical for Joshscorcher for most of this year, as his fails series has really upped the bar when it comes to quality top tens and the Kingdom Hearts month was surprisingly entertaining even to someone who doesn't play the games. However, the reasoning for number 2 and predictability of number 1 really bring this countdown down a few notches for me. Still better than Top Ten Final Bosses, which was the only countdown this year that felt below excellent
