I've always found it funny and ironic that most of the Amazoness cards didn't get censored, and yet whenever they appear in the anime, mainly the English Dubbed version, and when they were summoned to the field, they would get censored. It's especially funny when other cards like the Harpie Archetype, they get censored in both the OCG/TGC and the anime. I guess the English localizers for the TCG at the time had a thing for muscular women.

12:14 personal theory: They may have removed the drool on Madame Verre, because someone thought one could misinterpret it as foam - meaning maybe they didn't want that anyone could think she was "sleeping forever" (y'know death by cyanide pill or something). You have to admit, it is a lot of drool. If it was just a bit on one end of the mouth, it would have looked like a typical anime trope, but here it is way more than that.

That's related to Amazoness again somehow. When Tear came out in Master Duel, it was released with the new Amazoness support in the same selection box, so I had a stream opening packs and managed to get all the Tear support on my way to getting the Amazoness cards, and I built the deck since I had what I needed. Not my playstyle generally, but I played it on Ranked for a bit when it came out to see if I liked it. And since I needed a milling deck to show off Snow in for the video, it made sense to use it.

Honestly, with the way the game seems like it’s made to be played by an older audience these days, Konami should probably just rebrand the game as a “Teenagers Card Game” instead of a children’s one so they don’t have to worry about censorship half as much. The Hate Buster censorship reminds me of how Steve's Win Screen in Smash Ultimate was changed when he eats the steak, it was held at crotch level at the end. So they decided to remove the steak entirely at the end

Please,do you two really think they are allowed to create their own cards? Of course the japanese make them and the americans censor them, as usual. They just give it to them a year before they realese them in their own country. 😅 Especialy with scout you can clearly see that the underclothes were drawn on very poorly, afterwards. If they created the monster themselves they never would have chosen that ridiciulous clothing style in the first place. They just would have drawn skirts that are longer.

i think the panda head being censored in the Maji-Gire Panda makes perfect sense, it honestly just feels weird and out of place in the original card, especially with the literally zero context or explanation of what it is, the editors probably just thought it was better to remove it than to leave it in since it made no sense for existing in the first place and feels kind of forced into the artwork due to it just magically lining up perfectly with his armpit, it's just weird

I didn't even realize it at first until I looked at a play mat that took creative liberties with white rabbit and I looked to see if they were censored or not. Funnily the censorship wasn't even where the liberties were taken. So stupid and so insignificant.

The CW edits were pretty deep. They added sparkles to explosions like Chiaotzu's explosion and muted his monologue to Tien, changed Halos to balls of light, altered dialogue further like changing Spirit Bomb to Blast. It's super weird, but mostly funny since it didn't affect the official release on DVDs or streaming like the original DBZ dub, so it just exists as a funny way a network showed it. The Nicktoons Network version was censored less and thankfully what more kids of the 2010s saw, and all modern versions are without the censorship. Love the Kai dub, so glad the Toonzai version is just for memes now.

Going to throw a wild guess for the amazoness non censored early on. Wonder Woman. So In the late 80s or early 90s DC wanted to remake Wonder Woman by making her a spy that was pretty much a dc version of black widow to Appeal towards feminist. Surprisingly for DC and no one else they hated it and wanted her back the way she was, because she was one of the only female characters that can match up with all the other boys. So maybe this was the one area where a female character could be drawn with less on , since they were both strong and hot. Compared to other cards where it as clearly lewd to be lewd. So amazonesses In less is ok as long as they have the muscle for it. It also explains why the skinnier ones where censored while all the muscular ones where not. With the empress/ queen being the obvious exception.

I think one of the main reason for the censorship is to keep the age rating consistent with all regions .you saw this in Pokémon. Because Europe up the rating with gambling, it would have made Pokémon a T for teen rating here in the states. so they cut the game corner out to keep it for all ages Yugioh for ages 6 and up believe it or not. so some of these might up the rating if left uncut

I get that. I do cover a lot of the older game since it tends to be more popular and I still like the nostalgia, and I've seen a bunch of KZbin channels talk about YGO solely from a nostalgic lens without catching up on modern mechanics, so I could've fallen into that category. That being said, love the modern game. I play it most of the week thanks to mobile Master Duel. I go into gameplay mechanics more in some of my lesser viewed videos, like when we covered Archetypes Based Around Trap Cards since I play about half those archetypes (Dinomorphia, Traptrix, Amazement, etc).

Fairy Tale Snow got a player 2 recolor. Both are neat, though I gotta say, she does look better in red. Very, VERY rare instance of censorship being interesting. It's still censorship though, so it's bad regardless. If you wanna look at it in a positive way, Hate Buster's change was just changing Dark King from having burning between his legs to burning in his stomach. I will not elaborate further on that context. Really dumb censorship as well, but that's a given. ALL censorship is wrong. It's vandalism of art, and in many cases, denial of the female form. All these years later and I'm still salty about how they ruined the Harpy archetype's art. Free the slingshots, Konami! FREE THEM! I have two Japanese Harpy cards though; Harpy Lady and Harpy Girl, so at least I have some of the correct art. Maybe one day I'll go buy the rest of em just for completion's sake.

I like the Tyler sisters. They brought Amazoness to the modern game with their strategy. Though, it's hard for me to deny Tania, who was the best of the Shadow Riders and a pretty nice woman overall. Plus,s he helped bring a lot of the classic Amazoness to life in the anime.

The added a very low shirt under dress, so it pops up ever so slightly. We almost spoke about Tear, but I didn't feel like looking at the whole archetype and it was similar tot he Amazoness and Diabellstar edits, so I'll just save them for if we do a Volume 2.

I have my general setup line below. let me know if you have questions! For the standard setup, monsters that can do that are Amazoness Princess (searches Call who can get another body if you don't have it), War Chief (just make sure only Amazoness Monsters are on the field or else she can't special summon herself), Spy, and Fire Flint Lady. If War Chief is summoned or if you had call in you hand already when you summoned Princess, Village is my choice search. If you also have Village in the hand, then Onslaught. Summon Isolde with those 2 bodies, search Golden Whip Master with Isolde's since she can't be summoned if searched with Isolde, but she can be used for fusions or as a Pendulum scale (if you drew Whip Master, I go for Silver Sword). For her special summon from the deck effect that sends equips to the graveyard, I go for Spiritualist since her effect searches Polymerization when she is special summoned in any way, not just via her own effect. Get Poly with Spritualist. You can also get Princess if you have all 3 equip spells in your deck and you haven't summoned her. If you searched Poly, use Poly with the Whip Master searched off Isolde and another Amazoness you have (at minimum, you'll have Spiritualist to use). Fusion summon Liger King since he needs a level 5 Amazoness, which is Whip Master. If you have Village, which you would've gotten via War Chief or Princess, use Liger King's effect to destroy himself or another Amazoness and revive a different one in the GY. That will not just revive the monster, but also trigger Village. I usually special summon Baby Tiger off Village. Clear Isolde by summoning Appollousa with Isolde, Baby Tiger and Spiritualist (and potentially another body if you have it for a 4 material). Finally, you can still use Spiritualist's effect to bounce an Amazoness card to summon her from the graveyard. Bounce Village to special summon her, that will also trigger baby tiger to special summon, activate Village again, and set whatever else you have. If you drew well, you may have also had a chance to set Onslaught. Even if you get interrupted, this deck has a lot of extension or alternate routes. And even better, you you have things like the quick-play fusion spell or Droplet, that gives you a chance to get out Augusta for extra protection or a good card to set against your opponent. They definitely need better support, but I'm also working on seeing what staples can help the deck go.
