I rode it on opening day and we loved it. The first launch is a teaser and fun, going backwards so fast is scary and builds your anticipation. Some people will never be satisfied. But many of us loved this ride. If they have to do additional work to tweak things, then so be it!

Well, It looks like it should have been Intamin from the start to reimagine Top Thrill Dragster. They were more familiar with the original Coaster than Zamperla. Oh Well. Now guests are going to be greeted with, Sorry folks TT2's Closed. The Snoopy out front should have told you.🤣

CP didn't care about the downtime of the hydraulic launch. It was the cost of operating the hydraulic launch. They did the LSMs because its much cheaper in the long run, which is why they went with Zamperla... because it was cheaper. Shame on them for taking away one of the most unique experiences in the industry and changing it to a run of the mill LSM ride... its like wicked twister but bigger. Maxx force's launch is by far more intense now.

CP did the conversion because of how it's cheaper long term. Reliability was never a major concern for them. They took the cheapest option, which includes the companies first attempt at anything 70mph plus and first generation trains, which have never been used on a coaster until this point.

It has been a maintenance nightmare. I have 10 rides and 8 of them the ride broke down and required maintenance to be dispatched

Rumor from a park employee is that The wheels can’t be reengineered as it needs to sit high enough to clear the LSMs… this is a big problem and the ride has no re-opening date in sight.

This is the first extended breakdown of a brand new ride. I'd rather see this happen now, than during the middle of the summer Also, we have no idea what caused the breakdown, but I'm sure Cedar Point will tell us in due time. I'm guessing middle of June for reopening Now if this happens again after they reopen the ride, I'll join you on your take

New trains are going to show unexpected wear in unexpected areas no matter the manufacturer, taking the ride down to address them quickly is a reasonable thing to do. Hopefully this is just a minor tweak to insure more uptime

Honestly Zamperla didn't nail this ride. The first launch is underwhelming and many say it's pointless. i'd argue almost any other manufacturer would've been a better fit GIVEN the final product. It's simply neutered. They shoulda got S&S or someone with more experience, like it's doubtful Intamin would make the same mistake again and given the ferarri park and their success.

I honestly don’t care about the first launch, I loved the backwards spike and the airtime you get on that top hat. I just hope they don’t slow the last launch down to 110-118 like Dragster’s launch did.

Bet they are regretting putting 22 inch wheels, that increased ride height creates more drag and the weight being toward the top of the train in the restraint system will cause a shake and shimmy being top heavy. Those big wheels were done to increase longevity of the road wheels. But you also get the drawback of a top heavy taller train.

Seems feasible. I wonder if there is clearance or adjustability with the LSMs and trains to go to say 20" wheels, which would lower the trains an inch

That's a good question. I'm sure they had to lower the launch fins down to get them to fit between the magnets. I think the old trains had 17 or 18 inch roads. It's not a huge difference in ride height for every inch less wheel is only going to lower it by half an inch. But at those speeds it's a big difference

Im shocked about this because they were testing it during the winter months, while bragging about its reliability. I wonder if this damn ride is cursed?🤔. The longer the ride is out of order, the more $$$ Cedar Point loses and the more of a PR problem it becomes for Cedar Fair. Not to mention that every news outlet in America had featured this ride on their morning shows. Oh well!

I rode 5 times on the final Thursday of pass preview night and once on May 10th. This ride is absolutely INSANE. For the love of God, please dont slow it down. The airtime over the top hat is unreal. Also, I know some people say they didnt notice the shakiness or what not....but it's hard to ignore. If they can figure that out, this is a top 3 ride in the country. No doubt.

Honestly wouldn't even have it top 5. Still just a one trick pony that doesn't hold a candle to coasters like Hagrid's or Iron Gwazi. Had way more fun on Hagrid's with it's 7 launches, drop track, backwards section, and theming. Just superior to TT2 in every way

Top thrill 3 coming soon. One train got too close to the reverse spike top on Thursday. Gonna add a stopper, and have it go slower over the top hat because of the stress. To compensate for this. Cedar point agreed to have initial launch be at around 101 to match the reverse speed, to get higher on the rollback

Yeah, the petty, entitled park goers coming out of the woodwork now acting like a brand new, prototype design ride that just opened less than 3 weeks ago doesn't deserve a temporary closure to allow for mechanical modifications. I'm glad this video pointed out that this is a rather common situation that has happened several times in the past. I'm kinda tired of this overreactive, negativity-rewarded culture we seem to have embraced these days.
