You can just use pink noise and reverse the wires for passive speakers. I had to make a special Wav with one channel reversed for Powered Monitors however.

You have to update the speakers on the back with a thumbdrive to get the phone app to work. Kind of a pain but 100% worth it.

ONE person liked the Sevens more, having a set of each the Sevens are great, the Nines surpass them, I'm not sure if Andrew's Nines had some kind of issue but the only way to determine is to listen for yourself.

I've had "The Fives McLaren" edition for months in a box and haven't had a chance to set them up yet. I have "The Nines" up and running and they are fantastic, much better than "The Fives" normal edition I have in a bedroom. I'm going to be setting up the McLaren's in the same bedroom when I have it ready.

App works fine on my end (Samsung S20), it took a reinstall for it to connect to the speakers properly though. Dunno if the firmware updates for the speakers themselves help the issue at all, or if this edition has that already (which I'm sure they do.) I've been thinking about getting a sub for my set, any suggestions? Was just gonna go for it and nab a SVS SB-1000 Pro.

The app for my Fives works great. Takes about 3-5 seconds to find the device and then it's ready to go. I just wish I didn't pair them with a SVS SB-3000. It's way overkill. I regret not buying the 3000 Micro, or my original want...the Klipsch Reference 10".

The problem with The Fives is they do not need a sub...they need a good sub. The bass that comes out of them is deep and clean, so you will prefer their bass unless you have a good sub.

It is designed for 2.0 or 2.1 use only. You could integrate them into a surround with RCA if your receiver has pre-outs for front channels.

Hey man. I might be wrong but a DAP is not necessarily needed on any of the Klipsch Heritage Inspired Powered Speakers (5s, 7s, & 9s). They are a fully Digital Speaker. Meaning that things like an external DAC or DAP needlessly convert the Digital signal to Analog, then the Speakers take that Analog signal and turn it back into Digital. I’m new to the hifi audio world. I got the Fives for my first speakers in my life that cost more than $300 bucks. Absolutely loved them but upgraded to the Sevens two months ago. Love them even more. I digress but I wanted to learn more about the product. Audio Advice youtube channel recently had two of the companies big dogs on a live stream and they explained why DACs and DAPs are pointless. I just got the Wiim Mini based off their recommendation during said live stream. It makes the speakers wifi capable, I’m using Tidal Connect. Been great so far.

@@timd7782 Fives rock bro, honestly had I not experienced the issue I had with them (kept them a month, returned last day possible on Amazon) which was a terrible clicking noise that was coming out of the left speakers rear port, I would still have them and NOT upgraded to the Sevens. I saw an opportunity to invest in what will be my set up for years to come and am happy with my final choice. Had I kept the Fives only thing I would do is add a subwoofer. Was looking at the SVS SB-1000 Pro. I believe you and I have had discussions on these Klipsch speakers before. I’m still on the fence about needing a subwoofer but will probably get one come Amazon Prime day. I’ve been going down the audio rabbit hole. A properly tuned subwoofer should really open up any and all 2-channel speakers. Essentially turning it into a true full range setup. As you mentioned the DSP and Klipsch-horn make the speaker. Thus with a subwoofer the Fives and Sevens would see an even greater boost to the midrange and treble by utilizing a subwoofer. I’ll update you come July when I make the jump on a subwoofer. Out of curiosity what are your Fives hooked up to for streaming music?

bro i have the Nines and the Mclaren fives and i can tell you the Nines are the best speakers I have ever heard. The bass the nines throw out is actually scarry. These honistly dont need a sub. I have a older RSL Speedwoofer 10S and the bass imo sounds better on there own then using the sub. Did not mater how much i tried to blend the sub. Sub has more impact but it only went about 2 hz deeper. it just wasnt as musical as just the speakers bass. i upgraded from the edifer S3000 pro and its definitely a massive upgrade. also these have the best low volume bass boost i have ever heard if you use the app and max out bass but if you max bass watch your volume as 70% can bottom out the woofers on bass boosted tracks. but that was my fault. got to be carful with the youtube bass boosted stuff.

I had the Fives great bookshelf speakers. They punch above their weight no doubt but I too wanted to add a subwoofer. I upgraded to the Sevens. Bigger is better right? Yes, it is, and in a small room the Sevens don’t need a sub. My room is carpeted and only has my desk and a wall mounted flat screen on one wall with a small entrainment center. For my Xbox which is just a glorified media player at this point. I want to add a sub to the Sevens just to free up the lower midrange on the speakers while the sub takes care of everything below 80 Hz. The Fives, Sevens, and Nines are digital speakers. The subwoofer out is via LFE. According to Klipsch the Crossover is set to 80 Hz. Thus mo adjustment on the subwoofer needed besides gain/volume. I’m looking at getting the SVS SB-1000 standard. If the Pro goes in sale come Prime Day I might scoop that one instead.

The Fives setup is better if the main speaker is on the right side bcoz depending on the track that you are playing it messes up the separation of the arrangement even though this speaker is equipped with switch to change it from left to right the arrangement of the track will not follow or change from left to right

@diamondbracelette In the recording the artist or the engineer places his mics in different locations on the booth in that way you will hear some separations like instruments placed on the right or the left, with that Switch on tha back of the Fives it gives you an option to select the main speaker which is usually the right side as we most often perceive, if you placed thr main speaker on the left side and by just.flicking the switch, the actual recording separation doesn't really react on the Fives option switch ie, the high hat usually it is placed on the left side of the drummer so it should normally be heard on the right side of the speaker and that's.where the Fives kinda messes it up if that makes sense, but anyways I adore the Fives with that small package I was able to achieve almost near audiophile output and that's why I am planning for an upgrade 😉
