Still saving for an R8, currently using the RP for real estate and events, but my hometown is a football town so I need the faster shutter and low light performance. RP is great though, I love it.

Hey Jeff, new fan here 😅, I am stuck right now choosing an upgrade to the Canon Rebel T100 I got for $100 at a pawn shop.. have been considering the Canon 80d for a while now but im not sure if that would be a mistake given all the mirrorless body options. I do portrait/ Active horse photography often in poor or even night lighting, nature/macro, and dabble in bird/ sky/star photography and i use my phone for video... the T100 is okay, focuses slower than tree sap, and is grainy/ noisy for 80% of my shots and while I remove that in post, id like to take better quality shots to start with.. I shoot full manual now that I've gotten re-familiar with it and would like your opinion on what I should do to step up my game 😅 I have mid range lenses, no L glass but do have a couple primes, canon 40mm f2.8, 50mm f1.8, canon 85mm f1.8, and a couple zooms. None of them have stabilization however. Would buying an 80d be a more focus responsive upgrade/ less grain?

@@chrisbright2613 it depends on your budget. Personally if it were me i would jump to mirrorless. Maybe a canon r7 or r8. But i'd lean more toward the r8 if you do alot of low light.

Sony: Huge selection of third party lenses. Need to look into it further, but Nikon seems so gotten better, focus is apparently much better than it was and holds up to the competition. There is also third party lenses from brands like Tamron. Lumix S5II has phase focus, so no longer useless autofocus in video like on S5. So seems like an valid option now. Eliminated brands: Canon: paid firmware update as you mentioned before, limited third-party lenses. Fuji: quality issues, quality control issues causing focus issue, repair issues, screw in lens, and making the issue worse, really? I hope that's one off mistake by one person. IMO there's no reason to buy a DSLR now if you have the money. But if one only want a camera for photos, and want something really cheap then why not. But don't spend similar money on a new DLSR that's too close to a mirrorless camera in price, where one can get a much better mirrorless for same price or less used.
