For an alternative approach, see Dr. Jill Lekovic's "Diaper Free Before 3". It's a gentle approach, but quite different- call it a "new old method". Lastly, I'm not so convinced about the stickers (or other rewards) for pottying. Why do children need to be bribed to make their bowel movements? As a mother and nanny, I've successfully toilet trained children without resorting to that. Potty training isn't easy, but it's certainly no ordeal.
