Ton 618 is one of the largest black holes out there 389.8 billion kilometers. Sun is 1.4 million km. If we divide that we end up with 278,428x larger lens, which means we could possibly see a clear picture of a planet that is 27,842,800 lightyears away. And that is uneducated guess.

Maybe we do! According to a published paper concerning the search for Planet 9, the fact that it is hard to find could be due to it being a primordial black hole! Imagine the possibilites! if we have a small black hole at the outer doorstep of our solar system! this could be huge! Unfortunatly the probability for this being true is very tiny!

A Camera's Zoom is physical. the lens physically moves inwards or outwards, manipulating the view through the lens and zooming in. Therefore, a Camera doesn't need more detail to get a good quality photo zoomed in, it just needs the lens to do it. A phone's camera lens only has digital zoom, thus requiring higher definition picture to see detail when zoomed in, because no moving parts are in a phone's lens to change the zoom. This is why modern phones have multiple, separate camera lenses.
@roborovsky69502 жыл бұрын
Some phones, mainly flagships are using a periscope style lens for physical zoom. I think the s22 ultra achieved a 10x physical zoom with this method.

I do just want to correct you with the Samsung zoom. It does move physically, at least for the periscope camera lense. The camera module for that lense sits at a 90° angle from the camera, with a mirror towards the opening facing 45°. An additional lense it put in the middle which then moves on a worm gear to achieve zoom. Some of the zooming from that lense is digital, however the 10x zoom is true.
@JulianDaniel20032 жыл бұрын
Jup, just watch a teardown vid and it will comfirm this.

Yep, 3x and 10x zoom are real optical zoom. In between and above is digital. Maybe in the future they’ll be able to make a variable zoom lens from 3x all the way to 10x who knows. Sony has already done this but in a more limited range.

Hi, microscopist here... tossing my coin... Resolution defines what is the smallest distance your system (can be human eyes or a microscope) can still tell two objects are apart. If two spots are separated from a distance D = 1 meter, but your system resolution is d = 2m, then, your system will show the two objects are a single spread spot, blurred usually, 2 meters wide. (Not mentionning any contrast making this to be overcome or any other subtle physical thing)... When it comes to light, resolution is given by : d = 0.61 lambda / NA, with lamda the wavelength of the emitted light, in nanometers, and NA the numerical aperture of the whole system, but usually the objective for a microscope... it's basically an angle of "collectable photons"... so you can see that if you want d the smallest possible for better resolution, coz you can separate smaller objects... you want lambda the smallest possible, and NA the highest, hence UV, or even XRAYS, and NA the highest (so HUGE lenses)... With modern electron microscope we can overcome light limitations, because wavelength of electrons is ever so slightly smaller compare to light... for specialists, yes, electron microscopes resolution formula is more complex because you account for the voltage and some quantic effects... but overall the idea is : much smaller wavelength... Long story short : HRTEM manage to magnify up to 50,000,000 times so you can see atoms.... but at this scale, it's not just about resolution, the sample quality has to be good too !!!! otherwise it's just gonna be a blurry mess !! Usually we can see solid and well organized atom meshes... you can't manage to get 50.000.000x magnified pictures of biological samples for instance because it's much more diffractive and less organized... Last thing before I end this comment : zoom can be weird as a definition for quality... actually is has poor to no meaning... okay you cannot change the physical properties of your system and how it forms an image, because d = 0.61 lambda / NA is a constant property of the observable universe... however you can still imagine that you take your computer and make a pixel 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 bigger hence the zoom having that value, but the resolution is still unchanged ! I hope I was clear !
