I’ve just been on holiday to Madrid and did a tour of the Bernabeu. The sheer scale of the the stadium was mind blowing as well as the futuristic pitch storage system.

And it's not finished yet! I like they haven't taken down any stands ect and kept the integral structure, just a great spruce up! Keeping the history and the past and adding to the much needed future! Adding a little more capacity would have been great but the then mayor of Madrid put stop to it unfortunately. The tube station is getting a refurb also, will have everything in place for an all year working stadium! #HalaMadrid 👍🏼

The thing is Barcelona are primarily remodeling because the Camp Nou was so outdated. I visited the stadium in 2021 before the renovations started and the stadium was kind of a dump. Tiny concourses leading to long wait times, crumbling concrete, bird poop everywhere and aging infrastructure made it absolutely necessary to rennovate.

I had a similar experience when I visited back in 2011. Reminds me a bit of the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (or San Siro if you're an ignorant AC Milan supporter) - an amazingly iconic structure, vividly remembered from watching Football Italia on C4 back in the day, which in reality is a crumbling shithole.

@@sadssadsa5944 U are right but this is matchday gate revenue u also have to factor in the income the stadium will be able to generate through the restraunts etc. Real madrid estimate that the stadium will bring about 400 million per year. Real madrid have a home match on average every other week so what they are doing is they will try and host a event every week so the revenue they earn will be very high. You cant only consider matchday gate revenue for real madrid.

I'll put it in a simple way. Madrid has been revolutionizing their stadium since the beginning. Barca has been playing catch up each and every time so as to not get left behind. That is the difference. I've been to both and the Bernabeu is just something else. The Camp Nou felt historic but facilities were very poor. The renovated one will look nice obviously and will make their fans happy, but it's just not at the same level.

It's difficult to compare the outside when one is going for a sleek, elegant facade and the other for a no facade outdoor meet up sort of area. Camp Nou feels more like a welcoming atmosphere and Bernabeu a modern more posh feel. Although the retractable pitch and 360 screen give bernabeu the edge. However, the rest of the Barca project was barely talked about and maybe that would change my mind. Who knows?

Camp Nou will be, by far, the biggest and most beautiful stadium. You can see it by taking a look at the new Cam Nou works. Its design has recently been awarded (IAA 2023). Bernabeu is still the same old 1947 stadium under a new and strange case (in Spain we call it the giant tuna can). Real Madrid spends 1.5 Billion to future plan stadium and profit weekly. Barcelona spends 1.5 billion to make stadium expierence better but not much use of stadium itself every week.... so they start selling old stadium grass. Who is in charge of Barca its like they have no vision and cant plan.

the thing is they're not planning on using the camp nou itself for concerts and weekly events .. there's the PALAU stadium which is designed specifically for such events.

Well, I consider both stadiums are really magnificent, two of the best in the world. Even though it's true that Camp Nou has a bigger capacity than Bernabéu (it's the biggest one in Europe), Bernabéu is multifunctional and has a lot of state-of-the-art technology features, such as the 360-degree videoscreen or the retractable pitch, and that's why I prefer Bernabéu over Camp Nou, although I do think both are wonderful stadiums, as I stated above.

Both are impressive stadiums but I think i like Camp Nou a bit more cuz its open & unique . I have been to many american & other country's stadiums that has same closed system like Barnabeu . That open roof system of camp nou is rare . Anyway both looks amazing & the atmosphere will be something else. ( Edit : What i meant by open roof is the design in which u have hangout roofs like shown in the animation. Where people can hangout in massive balconies that encircle whole stadium. Where u can stand & see whole City view. Although some Stadiums have this already but Camp Nuo is just bigger & more open than anything i have seen )

Camp Nou will have a fixed roof, it's NOT retractable. And will not have 360 screenboard. Espai Barça IS NOT included in the budget, only Camp Nou and previous loan returns..

Can I just correct your comments about largest stadium attendance. When Real Madrid played 1960 European Cup final at Hampden Park in Glasgow 127,000 When Celtic played Leeds Utd 1971 in semi final 136,000 When Scotland played England 1939 149,000 Back then most kids did not pay, they got a 'lift over' by their dad, so did not register on turnstiles.
