This is why the World Cup in 2026 in North America makes perfect sense. In Mexico, they use the stadiums for their own soccer teams. In America, we have football and soccer and concerts and other events at the stadiums. And in Canada, they have the exact same thing. There won’t be any of this tearing down a stadium that’s been used for a month.

That's why the world cup should be hosted by countries that have successful domestic leagues. Germany didn't have this problem because all their stadiums were used by local clubs that could fill the stadiums. Brazil could've avoided this problem because they have a big enough domestic league but they wanted to build new stadiums anyways
@alanvictor5799

Most of the Brazilian stadiums are being used regularly. The major issues were the construction of stadiums on locals with weak teams with no local supporters like Manaus and Brasilia because they wanted to contemplate all Brazilian regions, even the ones where football isn't strong. Out of the 12 stadiums, I'd say like 8 or 9 are successful. The video also failed to mention that they were used to host the 2019 and 2021 Copa America. So, 4 major tournaments if you include the Summer Olympics

The 220 billion was spent on the massive national development project that was not directly related to the world cup. The world cup was a way to put a deadline on that project and push it to the finish line. Stadium spending was a very small fraction. For instance, the metro system is included in this, and I've been using it since 2019. It took hundreds of thousands of cars off the road and is a great way to get around the city without driving. That wasn't built just for the world cup. Similarly, Lusail city has been hosting government and commercial offices and has attracted people to its residential area for years now. It's not a city built for the world cup. Qatar made a huge mistake in advertising the $220B as much as it did, but as it turns out it's $220B over 12 years. That's about $18B/year for roads, utilities, public transport, administrative and IT developments, hospitals, an airport, a new sea port area, and much more.

@@andrigeogiou8420 6.5k was the predicted figure by the Guardian of how many people from South East Asia and the Indian subcontinent would die over the course of twelve years (the figure began from 2010 when the WC was announced to be hosted in Qatar until 2022) which is a normal death rate for a country like Qatar, if you want to do the maths. Directly related to building the stadiums though, only four people have died. What isn't okay is the conditions in which these workers labour in. The heat is incredibly bad for the health, even with the water stations available on worksites. For many, accomodation is also terrible due to their low salaries that they already send most of to their families. This situation exists everywhere throught the Middle East and North Africa, unfortunately. Calling Qatar a slave state is no longer valid, though, following the abolishment of the Kafala system in 2016. I always find it weird how countries build stadiums for only one event like FIFA or the Olympics. Here in Sydney, we still have all of our infrastructure from the 2000 Olympic Games only with the exception of a bit of extra seating for Stadium Australia (or whatever it's called now) and the Olympic Park isn't a dead area either with new development going in around it.

@@ClassroomQuranCurriculum They won’t travel. If they are smart, they will offer tickets to local residents first. And each of the locations are major cities that can sell out with their local population alone. The people who come from abroad to see it will have to choose which city they want to visit and watch in. Only someone really wealthy or a moron would try to watch a game in every city. I’m in New York so I’m going to watch locally and if I travel to Boston or Philadelphia or Toronto. Boston and New York are about 240 miles apart, so about a 5 hour car drive, 3 hour train, or 1 hour flight. Philadelphia is 2 hour drive from New York. Miami is a 3 hour flight south from New York. Atlanta is about 45 mins flight from Miami. Dallas and Houston are both in Texas and about 4 hours flight from New York. Kansas City is about an hour from Texas. Then there is Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles on the West Coast. Canada is getting Toronto in the middle of their country or a one hour flight from New York and Vancouver is on the west coast of Canada and very close to Seattle. Then theres Mexico with 3 cities. The travel will likely be rough on the players. They will have to assign regions for the Group stages so the players don’t have to take 6 hour flights moving across the country in between matches. And then for the tournament stages, and especially near the end, they will likely play only in New York, Mexico City, LA, and Toronto.

Not really. The 2026 world cup spans the entire continent and the logistics of moving players and spectators throughout the entire continent would be a massive headache. The costs of travel, jetlag from travelling, lack of effective public transport (especially in the US) would be huge disadvantages. People might consider all these factors and decided to stay at home and even then home viewership could be affected because of the timezone The only positive is that it would be cost effective for the American government because they won't have to build new stadiums.

Fifa should work with contractors to provide temporary stadiums to countries that need them to host the world cup. Also in general just let countries with successful domestic leagues host the world cup instead of random non footballing countries. Hell even just letting a modern country like the US is a good idea since they already have existing infrastructure. All thats needed is to convert the stadiums to meet the needs of FIFA world cup. Modern countries also have hotels and relevant accomodations for the huge influx of tourists and will also see the stadiums be used just as they were before the world cup.

In Qatar, the total population is around 2.5 million people, which corresponds to a larger City in Russia or a Medium sized city in Brazil.. In a city like Manaus in Brazil, there is only 1 stadium and they can't fill it, how do you want that the 2.5 million people in Qatar fill 10 different stadiums located very close to eachother? Impossible. Also, Indian and Pakistani workers that account for the majority of the population won't have the money to go there see matches and eat in Restaurants, also they don't have any family in Qatar... Women can't go outside without the permission of their husbands so that will also lower the attendance in the Stadiums, the schools located there won't be filled either because of the low fertility rate of around 1.8 Children as well as the hospitals because only around 3% of the population is older than 65. I understand why you have a lot in a large country, so fans can be more spread out across the country, but Qatar is famous for being within a small area, where someone can (and have) gone to every single match.

FIFA rules are that countries that host world cup matches should have 12 stadiums that can hold at least 40.000 people (for 2026 its 16). Of those 12 stadiums one should hold 60.000 people for the opening ceremony. And one should hold at least 80.000 people for the Final match. I don't know why because your plan of 4 stadiums is better than forcing 12 stadiums on a country.

The stadium need to be cleaned and prepared so if they only have a few hours they won’t be able to prepare it on time which can be very dangerous as well cuz the small time won’t give the security enough time to check the stadium throughly so 8 was the lowest they could build

Qatar has their mind in the right place when it comes to attempting to handle these substantial stadiums. However when it comes to actually setting everything into motion, that is what I will want to see later on in the future. I personally have been a large fan of the ideas that people in the Middle East come up with when it comes to an architectural structure’s sustainability, their takes on Arcology, and overall design and appearance, however futures for many of these projects people have in mind are a lot more bleaker than they think and they just don’t k ow yet until the problems essentially seem to outweigh the possibilities. Some examples include projects like “The World,” The Jeddah Tower in Dubai, and especially “THE LINE.” They all seem amazing they do a really good job at describing things. However actual development just seems so much of an unclear path to everyone. How Qatar is willing to take advantage of these stadiums is up to them and at least they have their minds in the right place and are willing to multipurpose the hell out of these venues. These problems may not show up for the upcoming 2026 FIFA WC here in the entirety of North America though because a majority of the money spend in the USA will mostly be adding shopping centers, revamping a few stadiums, adding seats, and changing the field layout from US football, to International Football. The entire concept of Stadium 974 is amazing. It is basically a portable stadium to dumb it down the most. I would absolutely love to see a stadium like 974 show up in all future World Cups including the United NA2026 and also the Uruguay 2030. It seems like it is the easiest to build and take down out of any other stadium I have seen so far.

Ok i get your point but you see stadiums have different designs and capacity so not all will be portable some will be parmanent and later used to host other events and soccer matches or exhbitions
