He's British, of Sri Lankan descent. It only sounds strange because you probably haven't traveled much, and only meet first generation immigrants who still have their native accent, rather than their children who pick up the accent of the region they're/you're in.

I don't know, perhaps they should go back to the original format for this programme. The Clarkson trio did this formula to death and however popular the new presenters are in their own fields, it seems like a pastiche of what has already been done. They have to act like the old guys, but so obviously scripted and dull, and it just doesn't fucking work! Give it up BBC this formula was done already and cannot be reheated with ever changing new presenters. It's like trying to call Theresa May Maggie Thatcher, she ain't and never could be. And like I said, it has been done already.

Well with the news that they're being bumped up to the BBC's main channel, as opposed to BBC2 as a result of the new trio's success, I think your point is moot.

Perhaps if they'd been successful at getting an audience the BBC wouldn't need to move the channel (or indeed constantly change the presenters) to one that is viewed by more. I don't recall the previous incarnation needing to be moved and that was a genuine ratings hit, i.e. Everyone turned to bbc2! All I know is that I used to watch it and now I turn over, even for the trailers. But I accept I am but a sample of one.
