The comparison between the Peugeot and the 911 was great. It's a great reminder of how different cars are now than they were a few decades back. I've never driven a Peugeot, but I did have a VW Super Beetle many years ago. That car could be summed up as 'Fun' (with a capital 'F'). The feel and the precision of the steering, and the gear box, and where the tires were ....was incredible. Modern cars will never duplicate that feeling. They are too heavy, too sophisticated, have too much comfort, and too many driver aids. All that stuff is great, and necessary, to handle the speed that modern cars are capable of. I would choose a 911 over a 30 or 40 year old VW or Peugeot, but I think we loose some 'Fun' with the high speeds and the sophistication. Any modern car is much faster, and much more sophisticated (brakes, suspension, etc.), than any 30 or 40 year old car - a new Honda Civic, say, compared to a 30 year old Civic - but that speed and the sophistication that it requires, makes cars heavier and makes for a less involved feeling. The thrill of driving a vintage VW, or Peugot, or Civic, down a twisty lane at 90 kph, has been replaced with the thrill of driving a modern Porsche, or Civic, down the same twisty lane at 160 kph. 'Fun' has been replaced with 'Serious".

If you ever had a KW track suspension on your car you know how good it is. I know these guys know how to drive and they are really good at it, but it really surprises me when people talk about suspension like it’s a magic trick. If you ever installed and played with your own car suspension to make it a daily driver when needed and track monster when your taking it for track days, then you know it’s the money you payed and you are capable of making adjustments and you are capable of doing on rebounds and compression and hight. All that for different tracks and different strokes. All regular cars are soft and capable of takings the nasty bumps on the road because of all the soft rubber oiled bushings that factory engineers have designed for the cars that have ran a prototype car that has ran tests for like half a million miles to make sure it’s perfect before production. Yes cars that are stiff and built great from factory are bound to be great on the track. Every year Porsche has made their cars better and better, that’s not witchcraft, it’s called engineering 💪🇺🇸😁👍👍👍 Yes Chris is awesome 👏😎 And I love every car he drove it like he stole it on the track. 😁👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
@dragsmoothfishingtv6354 жыл бұрын
Down Shifts Porsche is American ? KW is also manufactured in Fichtenberg Germany. Yes we have amazing engineering is America as well. Ford GT 40 GT 500 Shelby The new Corvette is awesome CAMARO IS AWESOME. my point is anyone who has a built track day car knows they most likely have to make the car stiffer and change the soft bushings to either solid or hard urethane, and thicker anti roll bars, perhaps shorter strokes for the suspension, run a different rebound and compression on every track, perhaps even different compound tires. And all that is not witchcraft, it’s race product that makes the car harsher to drive on the road but where it will shine is on the road course. Yes it’s engineering no matter what country developed the products. 💪🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😎😁👍👍

The pure passion and enjoyment of the Type64. Looking at what they did with such passion. Music and no commentary, just admiring it as a Porsche purist would. Idiosyncrasies. Little nuances around the steering wheel that have their owns story, and are most likely older than the admirer. Final shot just being in the presence of their culmination of tech and experience...leading to exactly that offering present day.... wonderful edit. @mikeado66

Chris, accept it bro, you're a DAMN good driver. You refer to yourself as a mediocre driver but you really really aren't. I'm just a pro-am drifter so what do I know but still, you can drive my friend give yourself a little credit. To be able to hold drifts in all the different cars you do, professionally driving a McLaren GT3 car, and simply having the absolute dream job you do are 3 points of proof solidifying my statement. Put it this way, if we were mates, and we decided to rob a bank, I'd actually ro sham bo you for get away driver. With my buddies they would instantly get in the passenger seat because they cant hold a candle to me behind the wheel. One of the few things I can brag about is my ability to know a vehicle's limits immediately. I'm also a mechanic/fabricator so I understand how cars work and how you have to drive differently configured layouts or suffice for say, clapped out passenger side front control arm bushings. By the way, my 2020 yz450f makes twice the power of a Porsche that won LeMans. That's progression right there ladies and gentlemen.

Mr. Harris, you may drive like a hooligan, looking at lap times and smoking tires, but still come across like a composed gentleman. Totally entertaining, that too. Smile from beginning to end. As to the sense that the 205 has more power than it should have on paper, just remember that horsepower is about the ability to increase the speed of a mass by an amount of increase per second - accelerate. Twice the mass needs twice the horsepower to get equal acceleration. The smaller 205 has a significantly smaller cross section to give air resistance. The Porsche may have better drag coefficient, but ends up with more resistance. And then there are the tires with their rolling resistance. The wider tires of the bigger car may have more rolling resistance. My guess is that the Peugeot with gear ratios optimized for rally may feel the way described, but its measurements will not be significantly off of what it should have on paper.

I thought I was generous with the curbs in racing games. Judging by that lap I'm doing just fine. Damn I cant wait to do one of those supercar lap experiences. I already know I gonna send it. Anyone who knows how I used to drive on the roads would vouge for that. I've came up with the 75% rule I use for road driving. I used to drive basically 100% out which has caused accidents (my car only) so I've slowed down. I refuse to drive like that on the road though I'll still get it in the twisties (using 75% rule). I wanna get to do do 100% on a track in any super car.
