I don’t mind the design too much; just regular small SUV stuff I guess. I was hoping for it to be a lot more utilitarian and simple. The interior is way too plush for a Renault 4. They should’ve priced this similar to the 5 but stripped out the interior, given it a phone holder and removable seats. Also the range in the 5 has been so so; how bad will it be in a larger heavier version of this platform? As it is, it’s just another electric SUV. I get this is a market segment that Renault needs and the Twingo will probably fit into the small and simple gap in the market …. I guess. Let’s hope Dacia can get their hands on this platform and make the Renault 4 we’ve been waiting for.

Talking about proportions being better with an EV, not when you are sticking with these flat skateboard platforms, as they jack up the height of the vehicle and make the seats uncomfortably high. To actually get these benefits you need to be more creative with the battery pack shape in order to keep the car lower, seeker, more aero, and better seating position (especially for tall people). Sports cars with 2 or 4 seats should by default use an I bar shape with a tall thick transmission tunnel style battery going through the middle (which also makes the cockpit nicer), with larger battery lumps at the back and front. Less sporty cars that need a flatter floor/ a middle seat in that back should use big cuboid batterys a similar volume to an engine under the bonnet/hood, maybe with a central tail between the front 2 seats. Both of these would increase the centre of mass but the tradeoff for better experience, style, aero, and space is absolutely worthwhile. At this point it feels like the companies have realised customers are cool with these clunky messes with their half-arsed battery design so they don't have to bother with more advanced engineering. What's the point if people buy it anyway? The skateboard chassis is much cheaper to prodice so obviously they'd rather do that AND charge more money becuase it's a big SUV

This is a far more practical car than the 5 or even the Megan, both of which have high boot loading lips for some reason, with superb but subtle styling that won't wear thin. It has retro hints from the 4 which make it interesting but the overall design is really modern and distinctive. Top models really need a bit more range perhaps to justify the price. Kia and Renault seem to be following very similar driver interface approaches with lots of non touch screen controls.

I like this retro Renault 4. Renault seem to be taking on Citroen ‘s bold styling challenges for a change and the 4 (and the 5) have worked out well. The biggest shame is that all these cars (and those retro cars and bold designs from other manufacturers) are purely electric. Why couldn’t they have been made with Ice which will probably give better life span as BEV still seems to me to be a stop gap solution or will end up mainly for cities.

The first time Renault released something exciting since the first Clio sport.

I just wish they would give a variety of propulsion options not just EV. Fabulous design though. Bravo 👏🏾

Great to see Renault back to making cars that are both relevant and interesting. Nobody needs a Tesla Cybertruck. Many would be happy with a Renault 4.

Boring. 2tons of crap handlings with a range of the average house drive.

My parents had the original R4. I will indeed look closer at this one.

Love the 4 and the 5, mostly cos of the seats; the throwback to the phase 1 R5 turbo seats is super cool and it's used tasteful materials. Super excited for the twingo though, if Renault doesn't bring them to the uk I might just have to import one anyway

You know if you are an old school you should've known that the R4 back in the days has that special gear stick that supposed to make it special they've really could 've done something about it in this next relooking kinda an easter egg like they did with the window i don't know maybe have a phone handler in there or something !!

Original 4L, 5 and all other 70s. 80s classics, where HONEST, PRACTICAL, AFFORDABLE vehicles. Now, desperate OEMs jump on the retro-nostalgic design to hide their anxiety over to what is coming. They present expensive, complicated, non-sense-branding-driven designs to "excite" people. Instead of re-inventing the essence of these cars, they create soulless vehicles dressed like something from the never-coming-back past. Yeah, good luck and enjoy the ride. By the way, I watched the live unveiling and the brand manager was talking about the "iconic trapezoid rear side window"...

Good observations.

It looks good, it's delightfully practical, the interior is nice, I imagine it's not super porky from the R5 weights, it has sensibly sized battery options.. it's a belter. I hope it comes to Aus cos I want one.

TG needs to do an updated test in the spirit of the "one gallon" race... how does a 5kWh race sound? Cheers!

As a new car, "oui", it's interesting. As a revival of the iconic R4, "non". The resemblace is too subtle.

After underpowered Clio I used to have I thought I’d never buy Renault but to be honest now I’m not sure…I will definitely give 5 a test drive.
