I wish you guy used more Common Sense whilst testing cars on track! I've been to England, So I know, there are Plenty days where IT DOES NOT RAIN, TEST CARS ON NON Wet Track days! You've got enough pull/clout to borrow/rent cars on those days Only. This makes lap time comparison and review USELESS.

That was the original plan for the top gear test track. They had a water tender that would spray the track before the car went out. But it standard top gear fashion; it was ambitious, but rubbish.

I admit I don’t see him change gears with the paddles, for instance if you look at the launch and you set a reference in his helmet you se the + paddle isn’t moving so it must be in auto, it then shows what an amazing job the PDK does ( 5:08 )

THIS! I was about to reply that in all other videos the Stig uses auto cars in manual mode if possible, and then uses the flappy paddles, but after checking the video 3 times, he leaves the PDK to do its thing (although the shifter is in manual mode) and never touches the paddles - this is the best endorsement of the PDK ever. I'm lucky, and I have the PDK in my 718 Boxster S, and I have to admit, it is exceptional, and telepathic, so I can understand why even the Stig didn't need to intervene.

Reality check: 518 hp is a sh*tload of power (the first and infamous Porsche Turbo had 260 hp!). What is actually ridiculous is the amount that some other cars have nowadays, especially given the fact that they are not any faster with it. Take for instance that Ford Mustang GTD that they made so much hollabaloo about and that basically lapped the Nurburgring in the same time as a GT3 RS can do, but that needed 800+ hp to to it...

Fun fact of the day the Porsche rear weight bias very similar to mid engined cars. Example, S1 Elise is about 38.9/61.1 and the Porsche is 38.8/61.2 respectively. (I haven’t weighed them myself but this is what google says and it sounds correct)

Porsche knows how to balance power and and handling. Some cars make 1000hps basically power cannot be exploited in lap test, but they can take advantage of straight sections of lap.

Just a reminder that the Ultima GTR 720 is still a full second ahead of the jesko on the top gear track (1:09.9). But the RS has much more power (depending on configuration of course), is 50kgm lighter, and has a lot more downforce. The time for it should be nuts.

@@storck08 most circuits either favor high downforce high drag cars(gt3-d) or low downforce low drag cars (gt1-2) depending on the ratio between turns and straights in the circuit. But this track is pretty small so speeds where downforce is significant enough to be helpful aren't even reached, so there isn't much difference in turning ability, so the low drag cars have the acceleration advantage over the course. At least that's what I'm guessing(I have never driven a car)

It's coming. It was in the intro. I don't think it'll be much faster than this or the Koenigsegg Jesko. RWD ICE cars really struggle on this short/slow track. EVs and AWD cars definitely have an advantage. Especially since it's a start from stand still.
