Seeing the confusion with that beginning scene never gets old lol The blind jokes never gets old as well! What I love most about it is how despite her blindness, the others still sees Toph as normal and as an equal so much so that they literally forget that part of her at times. It's the same with us too. Toph is so badass and capable that fans at times also forget that she's blind xD The emotional moments between Toph and Sokka and Toph and Katara were also really heartwarming. Especially with Toph and Sokka and how Sokka revealed this side to him about his mother. It's just so sad but beautiful at the same time when he says Katara is the face he sees when he thinks of his mother.

This epsiode shoes the relationship and behaviors of our characters. Toph who's never lived life like a regular kid should is going wild and loose having too much fun which is putting them in danger. And Katara who lost her mother, feels like it is her role to fill the void that was lost by her mother so she acts like a mother to the team which is something she hardly ever had. Toph who is hardcore loose and wild also has a soft side. And Katara who is soft caring,kind, understanding and loving also has a hard side and that's why the two relationships go so well together. And also is the reason to why they can't get along.

The runaway This is the first time Aang demonstrates the ability to use seismic sense. He has been training with toph for weeks so make sense he would be able to do it by now. The monkey statue that Iroh bought from the pirates in "The Waterbending Scroll" can be seen next to the jar of ink Sokka uses to write the fake letters. The beard Sokka wears while impersonating a soldier was worn in "The Headband" to impersonate Aang's father, "Wang Fire". In this episode, Toph cheats a scam artist, claiming that she "cheated a cheater". Katara makes a similar statement in "The Waterbending Scroll" to justify stealing from pirates.

Toph - The character that's so badass, people forget she's actually blind. I also love how this episode highlights Toph's rebellious and mischievous side since she was never given freedom to express herself when living with her parents.

The runaway Toph pretending to be hit by a carriage carrying a wealthy merchant bears similarity to a real insurance scam known as a Flopsy. Toph's ability to know when she had won caused authorities to believe she was not actually blind. A section of her wanted poster asserts that "she disguises herself as a blind person". The wanted poster offered a thousand gold pieces as a reward for turning in Toph. It is interesting to note that the officials imprisoned Toph and Katara in a wooden cell, seeing as almost no one outside of Team Avatar is aware of the existence of metalbending.

I think Katara could beat Toph. I love Toph but Katara is a very smart and very powerful bender, she just has a calmer personality but when she's really trying to do some damage to someone, she could easily do it. A lot of people underestimate water and waterbending, it's extremely powerful even though it's not outwardly destructive as fire or earth.

It really depends on the situation and how far katara is willing to go. If she uses blood bending then it's GG for toph. If she's by a bunch of water then it's GG for Toph. But under normal circumstances Toph would beat katara with mid diff

@@tgfs238 lol that's why I said "if she's really trying to do some damage." And I don't know, I still think that without bloodbending she could get Toph with those weird water arm things, all she has to do is constrain her limbs. It would be close but I really think Katara would edge her out. If this was another waterbender then I'd say it's curtains for them but Katara is a master and she's strong, powerful, and smart. She's also more level headed so her strategy would be better. I also think Toph (and many viewers) underestimate Katara and the writers write Toph as if she's untouchable (which I don't mind) but if the writing for their powers was more even then Katara would be a clear winner based on skill set and Katara having a clear head.

@@neonoires I feel that if she has enough water to do all the crazy moves she can then she takes this. Water bending is the most dangerous as it can instantly phase shift into ice. All she has to do is get a bunch of water on her. Katara(full moon)>>>>>>Katara(with a lot of water)>=Toph>>>>Katara under normal circumstances
