I just started playing this last night and honestly I love it! Especially the new characters like Hisako! I like how the plot is the definitive middle grouns between Mortal Kombat and Tekken, but the gameplay is more along the lines of Street Fighter but with automatic combos. The older games required more strategy but the new remake is 100% timing your opening to chain the longest combos possible. It's fun and I have never had such a blast kicking ass.

I ended up buying this game 3 times over the years twice for Xbox one and then for pc, I love playing the pc version with a Sega Saturn controller. I was initially very disappointed when I heard Rare wasn't involved with it but it turned out great.

This game has one of the best themes I’ve ever heard in a video game. Character designs are creative, gameplay is crazy and interactive even when you’re not the one doing combos. And of course the amount of hype from the announcer yelling out ULTRA! when doing a 50 hit combo just makes it even more hyped.

Growing up in the 90s… I always thought this was so much more fun than tekken and 2013 KI was an absolute blast to play. I suck at fighting games big time and it’s even so much fun for someone like me, who likes to just press buttons and do flashy shit. The music and characters have always been awesome in KI. Definitely one of my favorite games!

The Rare shift to the Kinect wasn't about Rare. It was about Microsoft's terrible Xbox management at the time. The Xbox One era staff management to release a console that kind of happened to play regular games while being a TV Box and mostly doing Kinect crap. And doing this forced them to sell the console for far more which. This, with the digital only games, was one of the two major gaffs at release that caused them to lose their lead back to Sony. Microsoft has shifted back to games now and dropped families waving their hands in front of a TV. The XB1 stopped being compatible with the Kinect out of the box and the TV thing was mostly ignored (because it didn't really work).

No, I can assure you - us old-school KI fans that loved the games and their distinctive take on the genre PUSHED FOR TEN YEARS to get a title out - and the approach they took with it was very transparent and fair... probably the closest thing to a "walkthrough of fighting game development" you could ever get on a commercial level, since it launched with only two characters and iterated from there. Because really when it comes down to it - KI is the *only* series that takes the tactical depth of Street Fighter and the gory/finisher appeal of Mortal Kombat and executes them *both at once.* Plus, that music be bangin'! All we really pushed for at the time was porting the arcade games - and they gave a polished, ground-up rebuild/redesign~sequel in it's place!

I went to the arcades as a kid to check out the first Killer Instinct game (even though I couldn't perform the Ultra Combos or basically play well at all). One thing I never got is why Orchid's design has changed so much. I thought she was Asian in the first game. The second game really altered that, and she looked more like Janet Jackson if she'd gone further towards the Michael Jackson route with surgery. And In KI 2013, she looks like a mostly Caucasian but somewhat mixed (with black) Brazilian or something. I honestly liked her best in the lower-res original game. Jago seemed like a ninja (also, apparently a Tibetan monk), and he's her half-brother, so, well, the Asian thing would make the most sense to me...

You can get the game for 10 dollars and if you get the Xbox or Windows version you get access to both the xbox and pc version and also it includes the arcade enhanced ports for ki1 and ki2 with rollback netcode but you can only play this versions on the Xbox, they where never ported to pc.

And to this day, Killer Instinct 2013 is still fun to play and its better than the more recent fighting games that came out.

Yeah, but probably not better than KoF 15. Keep in mind that KoF 15 just dropped. KI (3) launched with only 6 characters!

@@TexasHollowEarth well the one advantage KOF15 has over KI 2013 for me is that at least their female fighters like Mai Shiranui, Angel, Blue Mary, & Sherime are kept faithful to their sexy nature unlike Killer Instinct which toned down Orchid and Kim Wu with boring redesigns and they have the worst customization in the entire game. Maya is the one exception in which her clean redesign was good and she got a faithful classic costume (now with abs). In Orchid & Kim Wu's defense, at least they provided their retro look....kinda. Kim Wu got a faithful classic costume minus the additional booty shorts under her loin cloth while Orchid got stuck with her KI1 look because it was more Woke friendly than her KI2 look which was originally planned to be in the game before it got scrapped. While I am more than happy to take the KI1 look over the dreadful Fortnite reject design, it still doesn't beat the KI2 look. Off that subject, I'm definitely planning on getting KOF15, mainly for King Dinosaur 🦖. Hopefully SNK will handle the DLC properly and not screw it up like the brutal disappointing Samurai Shodown 2019 by vomiting crappy guest fighters like the Warden (For Honor or Fortnite with swords) and some stupid slut bunny from a Chinese rip-off/bootleg of League of Legends. I just want more original fighters like Mr. Karate 👺and Shion as DLC for this game.
