What pound braid is on your 60nld2? Do you think this can handle 100lb line for night time jigging?

@@brianyoon8164 it was 100lb. The reel side plate does start getting pushed at it for 100lb test but I did it anyways. Will likely need the bearing under pinion replaced more often especially with jigging

When did they fix the freespool issue? I was looking to buy a used 60NLD2 from a person who bought one in January 2023

That might be cutting it, could’ve bought in Jan, but was early batch inventory. If the deal is right, reach out to Penn, they’ll supply the parts. It’s couple of shims on right side and belleville washers on left side aka, heavy duty spring washers.

100% agreed, along with the drag cam. I tried talking to a 3rd party vendor if they would make an aluminum one, but they’re not seeing the demand for it. I’ll see how it holds up, at my expense 😆

Any cons to taking out the top cross bar and lugs?

I believe it’s primarily as a support for the lugs. The cross bar is threaded, the screws for the lugs are much longer going past the cap point and into the cross bar. Other than that should be fine. It’s same width as 40n, just taller 🤙

What about the 80 freespool

Haven’t had a chance to test the 80, but I believe all current production models since early 2023 has since been the resolved models. They should be just as good and a decent reel for the price. Thanks

So was the free spool bad from the first ones of this gen? What about the black and gold fathoms hows the free spool on on of those like the fathom 40nld2?

The free spool was bad on the first couple batches of this model only of Gen2. Released around Sept 22, resolved around Dec 22 before year ended. New batches should be fine. The 40nld2 shouldn’t have a prob nor any of black and gold Gen1. I still own 25nld2 and 40nld2 of gen1 and this 60nld2 gen2. All are working flawlessly

@@nufolopez83 lol. It’s a beast reel. Price is so undervalued for its size. I have a Talica 20 which is about the same size. I still grab the 40n and keep telling myself to sell the Tac20 Lol

@Seastheday88 yea same here I have a few reels I want to sell like my van staal lol I think it's a bit over rated my penn slammer 3 and 4 do the same. But I have it listed online some people just want to low ball knowing that thing cost 600 lol but I might get rid of my speedmaster and get a smaller penn fathom the black model.

@@nufolopez83 I haven’t tried a van staal. But seen guys on surf chest deep soaking the reel and getting their halibut. I have a Slammer 3 and Saragosa. Both reels are bang for buck spinners. Still hoping to hook one on a popper from either.

Just buy a GoMexus sX450. It's half the size of that reel and it has 65lbs drag🤣🤣 I feel bad for ANY ocean dwelling animal that just so happens to make the worst mistake if it's life the second he gets snagged on one of my hooks.... Cuz it's gonna effortlessly get drug str8 to the surface. I ain't gonna lie tho this jig reel shop near my house actually sells the cutest most ADORABLE little avet lever drag reels n I want one SOOOOO bad! I told the dude who worked there , I said omgggg look at these cute little Avets you got!! I didn't know they made SPJ reels that small but I WANT one!!🤗
