I think The Boys did a fantastic job with the way Homelander's power is demonstrated. He's just so unstoppable it's immensely awe inspiring. I do think that his power somewhat creates a problem in the writer's room. Especially in season 2 it feels completely unbelievable how the scrappy underdogs with no superpowers manage to continue having an impact. It's really hard to believe that Homelander hasn't completely destroyed them yet.

It would've been a lot better if Quicksilver had SOME flaws. He can basically get out of any situation in these films. Like in this scene, it would've been better if he ran into some benign object, like a butter knife, because he didn't see it, and since he was moving at super speed it broke his ankle or something like that. For every superpower there should be some draw-back to create more tension. Otherwise it's boring.

@@jeffw8218 if that's how he experiences time, then just moving through air in that speed is like moving through sand, because air moves so slowly that getting it out of his face quick enough would require such a high amount of force. But as seen in this scene, his super speed also has a built-in super strength, since he was able to do that, move objects at an incredibly fast rate, and keep his body intact without breaking a sweat. No wonder he's one of the most op characters in X-Men. His strength would almost rival Superman at that point.

And the absolute attention to detail with all of the water droplets, the way things move around him from the wind he creates, the way things seem to speed up when he gets close to them and then slow back down as he stops affect them. @trianglemoebius2 ай бұрын
@@tonuahmed4227 No, he's not actually affecting time, rather we're seeing things from his perspective. Due to light not being instantaneous, time seems to move faster for things closer to us, and slower for things further away. This is just an optical illusion, and more importantly because we can only see things relatively close to us (even thousands of miles are nothing on a galactic scale) the visible difference is billionths of a second so we can't tell the difference. For an example of a time we CAN see this: stars. The stars we see are actually how they appeared millions of years ago, because there's so far away that it's taken the light that long to go from them to our eyes. Anyway, Quicksilver is moving so fast - and processing everything so fast - that those 'billionths of a second' are noticeable to him. He's able to discern a difference between, say, light reaching him in one billionth of a second and light reaching him in one-and-a-half billionths.

Cool, I have seen this movie countless times and I've still never realised that. I love when moviemakers keep an eye on such details. Meanwhile, in the DC universe, superman is carrying a whole apartment block that would simply break and fall apart, because that is not how houses work. And the Flash super-speeds a truck and would _so_ kill the two children on the cargo bed by getting them cut in half by the tailboard first and then 'throwing' their remains off the car and the parents by simply turning them into mush. Hell, and the parents would be the _lucky_ ones, think of it, one moment you are sitting on the cargo bed of a truck, the next moment you feel an unbearable pain, you are lying somewhere in the mud, your lower body is gone, you hear your sibling scream in unbearable agony or maybe it's you and then you die.

Personal headcanon for this scene. Quicksilver has a playlist of songs that are all sped up by variable speeds (x20 x 50 x100 etc) for his speedy moments. They serve as a way of keeping track of how fast he’s going since he doesnt have the best handle on his ability just yet. A point of reference for him to go off of. And they serve as a way of limiting his time going that fast, since doing it for too long would tire him or cause things and people around him to take a lot of damage.

But that also is something not that evident because in real time a bullet travels 4-5 times faster than sound. And suppose the distance between the x men and the security guards is say 4-5 meters, so the distance between quicksilver's ears and his walkman should be less than 1meter [(dist b/w x men and security guards)/speed of bullets must be greater than dist b/w quicksilver's ears and the walkman/speed of sound] [i.e the time taken by bullets to reach X-Men should be greater than time taken by song to reach quicksilver] Hence the length of the song heard by quicksilver (about 1.5min ) is impossible no matter how much u increase the speed of his songs to 20x, 50x etc So, no matter how much his songs are tuned such that their speed is 20x or more or anything. The fundamental speed of sound on Planet earth restricts the claim of ur statement. I hope this makes sense 😂😁

Intertia refer to an objects amount of resistance towards the change in velocity, if he really did move in "Mach 8200" then he would simply destroy everything in its path by just "Moving", no object even his own body(as neither did tungsten) could survive such velocity. Unless the nature of this quicksilver ability is not actually a superspeed, but he live in different dimension of time. But yeah since this is fiction, you can literally have Superspeed without any supplementary abilities, in real life if someone really does have speed of Mach 8200 he's also the strongest person in the entire world. This is why i hate speedster, most of the speedster abilities doesn't make any sense, at least Flash actually paid attention to those detail.

@KilgorMaimphace3 жыл бұрын
Fun fact: The reason he's always wearing headphones is because he has to listen to the song in super speed. You hear the song in regular time because that's what he hears. That's also why the song cuts out as soon as time is normal. Oh and the shades/goggles are for eye protection. His body and eyes can handle the increased speed but it still causes irritation.
@edvinsalguero6212 жыл бұрын
I’m confused so the song would be going fast if he didn’t control his speed or whatever but, what I don’t understand is, is the song going fast when using his power but, that doesn’t matter because he has the power to control at how fast a song goes when he decides to listen to music?
@gosu65942 жыл бұрын
@@edvinsalguero621 I don't know much about Quicksilver, but from what I've undersood, I think he means that he has pre-recorded songs that play at a high speed so in real time the song would sond like gibberish (because they're very sped up) but he can use the song as a reference to callibrate the intensity of his powers by matching the speed at which he runs to the speed of the song. So, how does he know if he's at the same speed as the song? The song sounds normal
@shreeyamittal17712 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. Apply relativity here, at Quicksilver's speed it becomes surprisingly relevant. He is moving at inhuman speed, but so is his music player. Hence he hears the song at normal speed, but his speed means time slowed down for him. To observers, for whom time passes normally, it looks like the song would have to be sped up, but that's not the case.

Because quicksilver is arguably stronger than magneto. How can anyone stand up to that? His mind is probably blown. He's calculating how defenseless he would be against such power. Only Xavier might be able to stand against him, but it would have to be at great range maybe using cerebro. The only other mutants who could stand against quicksilver would be ones impervious to all forms of damage quicksilver could inflict at super speed. Colossus or other mutants who quicksilver wouldn't be strong enough to inflict damage on could withstand him, but none of those could catch him. I don't think he's OP, just very interesting. Magneto is probably thinking "I would have to kill him unsuspectedly and I'd only get once chance."
