Bachman-Turner Overdrive, often abbreviated as BTO, were a Canadian rock band from Winnipeg, Manitoba, founded by Randy Bachman, Robbie Bachman and Fred Turner in 1973.
Their 1970s catalogue included five top 40 albums and six US top 40 singles (eleven in Canada). BTO has five certified gold albums and one certified platinum album in the US; in Canada, they have six certified platinum albums and one certified gold album. The band has sold nearly 30 million albums worldwide, and has fans affectionately known as "gearheads" (derived from the band's gear-shaped logo). Many of their songs, including "Let It Ride", "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet", "Takin' Care of Business", "Hey You", and "Roll on Down the Highway", still receive regular play on classic-rock stations.

Randy's guitar solo in the bridge is a work of art. Not very many songs released for pop radio dedicated so much time for a lengthy solo like that, but it was just too good to shorten down. Many kids, like myself, learned how to air guitar from this record. 🎸

I'm not arguing they're not great but... with bands such as Heart, April Wine, Triumph, The Guess Who (which is the band Randy came from) and of course Rush, the argument can be made that there are a lot of great acts and its difficult to qualify the greatest because they're all different genres. Peace out.
@jasonferguson6753

@Savatage1964 That's absolutely true, but I don't think Heart are Canadian, I'm going on how. Consistent they were, for example "Not Fragile" had no stinkers, (BTO had a few of those), also what I said is just one man's opinion.

We were too poor in my younger years to buy albums, so radio was the only access to music and you only heard the hits and A LOT of commercials. Radio never really announced who you were listening to. I am amazed at how many songs I listened to on the radio were from BTO.

I still fondly remember the moment while driving with my Dad down the length of the Macdonald-Cartier Freeway in Ontario in May 1975 when this song came over the car radio. One of the great road anthems.
