Brings me back to those late night bus rides where I was beside the window seeing city lights, people going wherever they should and vehicles moving while this song is playing. Also those late night walks from a hospital shift then stopping by to an open shack to eat arroz caldo with tofu then walking back home bringing some of the food to my parents for a night snack. These memories might be ordinary but I cherish each and one of it. I've been to paradise, yes. It is not some special place somewhere but rather it is what we make and who were with us at those times. That, is my PARADISE.

Some years back, there was a supergroup called Velvet Revolver with Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots and 3 members of Guns 'N Roses in the band. They released a song called 'Falling To Pieces' which I just dismissed as a power ballad about drugs. Paid it no mind. Well, Scott ended up od'ing in late 2015. When I listen to the song now, I hear Scott's cry for help and feel quite sad thinking about his struggle with drugs. Time has a way of changing our perspectives. But the opportunity to find a true, great love and making a life and family is something can is often presented in your 20s that people tend to put aside in favor of adventure. Some people never find true love, like me. I had a true love and that was my daughter. She died at 21 and her sister years before. I have to make myself happy at 59 becuase I will never get into another relationship again because of trauma. BTW, I had kids in my 30s and played in my 20s by having fun and getting an education. I actually feel sorry for people who think you need a man to be happy. I thought that as a very young woman, but now at 59 I know I was foolish.

Women who choose to be single and free may regret when they see others with family when they’re old. Women who on the other hand choose to have a family and work for family their whole life may also regret when they see some others who could spend all their time, money and energy on loving themselves. It’s really not about how do you choose to live your life. It’s all about how you can find happiness in your own path and cherish what you have, and find the true happiness within yourself (not from comparing with others).

As being a 90s, it is my one of the unforgettable songs in my life. It is not because of its melody. The lyrics reflect a full conversation between a young lady and an old lady to discuss how the paradise looks like. Though I has not been married, I totally agree that love has no cost and it is for your freedom. I hope this song can be a reminder to everyone in love. Treasure your loved ones.

Simply love it. Since the first time I heard it. The lady's fragile voice brings the song to another level. Masterpiece which will never bore me. Grazia Charlene.

I have loved this song for decades. I have always been Charlene and I've tried so hard to convince my girlfriends, discontented mothers and regimented wife's, that it's not so great, I've never been to me.

Such a powerful reflection to one life's different stages, situation and struggles. At some point we could all relate men/women, we're all looking for real happiness.

Me too me too me too. I was a 12 years old boy from rural NC. I about wore out my 45 rpm single of this song. The magic of this song is just as strong or even stronger now. How is that possible?
