Man did this song ever get lost. Neither Randy or Paul ever put it on any compilation or ever play it. I loved this song when it came out.

Gold. Been listening to both of these guys since late 60's/ early 70's. SO cool to hear your favorite singers get together... 'but I'm sure they have the utmost respect for each other.

Aaaaaah. This song brings back so many memories. I lost my lovely mother 5 yrs ago. She used to love to blast this song on her computer. She used to dance to it. Sweet times.

Doing a deep dive in the Paul Simon catalog. How am I 54 years old, love these 2 guys, and I am hearing this gem for the 1st time? MTV, radio, somebody failed me!

Welcome back. Our single of the week this week is from the 1983 randy newman album "Trouble in paradise". Reviewed by RS in March 1983..... the critic loved it and gave it 4 out of 5 stars. I've never heard this song before....but the inclusion of paul Simon makes it great. This album has guests like don Henley and Linda ronstadt christine mcvie, bob seger, ricki lee jones and Lindsay buckingham. The single released tomorrow will be "The blues" "I love LA" "short people" and "you can keep your hat on". All for $2.00

Randy Newman said he felt this was the meanest song he's ever wrote because it's making fun of depression, sensitivity, where as in Short People and other "mean sounding" songs, the narrators were obviously untrustworthy.

It sounds only mean, because the music sounds so funny. Imagine this one as a r e a l blues.

I can’t understand why this wasn’t a big hit. Maybe it was just a bit too late-seventies-sounding in the early eighties.

Day 6971. A prime number. Raw honey and all of my urine til 1.30pm then dried and fresh figs and tomatoes and sprouts and lettuce then more urine then fresh fruit and vegetables and nuts at 7.00pm. No change.
