WonderBoy III is both the best game on the Master System and one of the best games ever. R-Type, Golden Axe Warrior and Castle of Illusions should be on the list, IMO.

Fantasy zone 2, Blackbelt and Cloud master are some classics missing from this list.

Is it just me, or most of these games look graphically better than NES games? I thought both systems are very similar in processing power of 8 bit, but looking at this video it is pretty obvious Master System is able to produce slightly better graphics.

Well, it came after. Also the software developers had more experience exploiting the hardware.

It definitely was more powerful. They both had 8 bit processors but master system came later and had better specs. It just lacked the blockbuster titles like Mario that helped the nes sell so well.

The sega had more memory more colors and a faster processor, it also came out 2 years later (1985 mark III vs 1983 famicon). Being first, bigger marketing budget and oppressive licensing preventing games being released on other systems gave the inferior system the superior sales edge among the neurotypical masses.

The Master System could display 64 colors at once while the NES could only display a sad 16. The Master System had much better graphics and sound.

Good choices! Some games I love and some I never even saw. I think one aspect of the proliferation of modern gaming is that it makes any one game more disposable. As a kid, with budget for 1 or 2 games per year, I played California games so, so much!

I own Psycho Fox, and i will cherish it until the day i die for it's uniqueness, aesthetic, art style and music, but it had some "interesting" gameplay choices that in my 40's, I'm prepared to admit were aggravating. I won't say it's a great game, but it was the best Mario substitute for someone (me) who thought Alex Kidd looked like pedophile-bait and a creepy mutant to boot. Never played Alex Kidd though, but the cover art (especially the north American Mega Drive box art) turned me off badly. That was how it worked before the Internet. What? What's a "magazine" ? I don't own any guns, why would i buy a magazine? 😂 Kega Fusion rocks. NESticle was my NES go-to, i looked at RetroArch once and decided i didn't want to sit around for 3 hours customizing it. I'm sure it's great, but i don't have that many systems i wanna emulate and only so much time to game. I have a cat.

Tem mto mais de vinte, na versão brasileira tem uns vinte ou 30 jogos feitos em parceria com a tectoy que são melhores do que os dos americanos.teria uns top 50 ou 60, não só 20, americanos e japoneses não gostam só SMS mas na Europa e Brasil foram mto bem famosos........aceitos e aclamados!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn’t like the list. Most of those games are “average”, not top games like the NES list. Better games are: Sonic 1 and 2, Streets of Rage, Road Rash, Kenseiden, R-Type, Master of Darkness, Masters of Combat, Castle of Illusion, etc
