I’m sure you have heard plenty of people struggle because they keep topping the ball and they can’t get it in the air. You have fixed it my friend. I have watched several videos from other people and they have all helped. But I never concentrate on shifting my weight to my forward leg. I followed your steps and almost immediately I was hitting consistently in the air. I truly appreciate your video. I’ve only been playing for about 9 months and I finally was able to hit in the 90’s and then I lost it and started back to bad habits. I’m confident I’ll be dropping my score once again. Hopefully in the 80’s. Thanks very much. Glenn

Excellent explanation! I struggle so badly with this. I had been practicing off matts for so long, thought i was making progress then went to natural turf and fatted everything. Gotta fix this.. Thank you!

Clay, I'm 65 and don't turn as well. I would love a video of how to achieve ball then turf, with limited mobility. I think golfers over 65 represent a huge percentage of golfers... 50%? If you know of another video that does this well please share.

So where do you focus your eyes when swinging? Just in front of the ball, on the back of the ball, or 3-5 inches past the ball? Hope this is not a silly question.

So important to get this right. To me there is no point in moving forward until you can do this every time! Put the time in to make this happen and if needed get one-on-one instruction. This will literally transform your game and make the rest of the game fairly easy. If you don’t learn to do this you will never play consistent or good golf.

i get all my golf instruction on youtube from several guys and clay is a good one to follow but i don't know of any guys in my area that are good enough to spend money on for in person instruction. i did try a couple over the years and got nothing out of them. ive been a 13 for 30 years and maybe that's as good as it gets for me but always working on it. it's a passion and i enjoy it.

I think when people listen to the description of all the motions, they try too hard to make them (the "U" in this instance). That "U" motion will happen naturally, and when it is forced, it leads to inconsistency and frustration. The main point is that everyone's swing is different. That needs to be pointed out by all legitimate instructors. The most important point is impact position, and however you get to that is all individual. That is why all tour pros have their unique swing.

clay, i address the ball with the club right behind the ball and then usually that's where i hit the ball or maybe fat or thin. so should i be addressing the ball with the club hovering about half way up the ball so the swing arc bottoms out in front of the ball like you say in conjunction with the body move and the hands ahead. hitting the ball and then the turf is something i've strived at for years but could not get the hang of even though i have tried what your suggesting. thnx for the help.

I will be getting some chalk onto the mat today. Few years ago I was nailing pretty straight, and playing around 16, now I'm lucky to break 100. hooking left if I get into the back of the ball, and straight right if I dont. If i remove the chunks and tops, I'm avg carrying 154 with the 7i, but always that hook that goes 12-40yds wide of target. Always feeling that my whole body is moving towards target though, instead of keeping the 'nose over the ball'........is that it? Anyway.........Skytrak, mat, chalk and some patience............let's see

Did Bryson invent the golf swing? Or maybe he went to pga school, and they use terms that golf instructors use to explain to other golfers how to hit. He said divot and low point he must have stole that from Jack Nicklaus or maybe Sam Snead.

Best ball first drill came from another u tuber.. if you fat one.. next shot take a few swings with club grounding in front of the ball gets you moving weight into the ball.

95% of golfers are hackers because of “straight jacket” golf instructors who basically wrap us up in a straight jacket and twist us into pretzels and say now you should be able to swing freely and hit like tiger. We dont know how to use the tool so we end up being absolutely plagued by chunks on the course. Nobody has to teach us to use a hammer and after 1 day we all can hit the nail in the middle of the head. If we knew how to use the tool we could add all the power we wanted.
