There's a lot of great golf instructional vids on KZbin, and I feel like I can take a little something from each one. I've watched two of vids from top speed golf, and at least for my learning style, they have been some of the best.

Clay you rock! I am 54 years old and I was that guy hitting with just his arms. I saw this video right before my Saturday round and seriously started knocking the sh!t out of the ball. I had to club down two clubs because the ball was flying so far. I was one over after 5 holes and parred 5 of the last 6. I had some meltdown holes in the middle due to my short game but I haven’t watched your short game videos yet. Your videos give me just enough to think about while playing and not mess me up with too much junk. Thank you and keep posting your videos!

Thanks again for sharing your excellent instructions Clay! Clay is one The Best Instructors in the world. He explains everything so well and with his Great Tips he simplifies the swing so all can incorporate it in their own game. I can see many "Best Instructor" Awards in his future. Keep up the great work Clay.

Clay, Thank you for your excellent instructions about how to stop hitting iron shots fat or thin. After watching your video explaining the swing motion, I took it to the driving range and it worked immediately to my utter amazement. I had struggled with my iron play for years, but you corrected my problem with your illustration half way through your video where you exaggerate the motion, but it helped me to understand how to make the turn of the hips and to return the club to the ball without hitting it fat or thin. Thank you so much for posting the video!!

All your videos are great, Clay! Chunking my irons in the fairway is my biggest source of frustration currently. There's nothing worse than hitting an excellent drive off the tee, ending up right in the middle of the fairway, and a nice yardage to reach the green in regulation...only to miserably chunk the fairway shot! I'm actually at the point where I've lost confidence in the fairway...and need to get to the point where I'm hitting solid shots 99 times out of 100. This is made more difficult by my age...I'm 64, and find my posture and degree of rotation changes as the round progresses. I think I can fix directional issues with my iron shots...but have to start hitting them consistently first. This video helps!

Thanks Clay. I worked on this drill today and just positioning my feet right sure made a world of difference. However, I did not hit my 3 wood very hard as I was in our back yard and did want to lose the balls in the woods. But my main thing was to just hit it correctly. I’ll be golfing tomorrow and will see how I do.

You are the first person I've ever heard mention wet grass being susceptible to the chunk shot. I live in Scotland (very cold and damp) and I've always experienced this happening. The course is ALWAYS wet and boggy like this, so much so that I'm actually considering getting hybrid irons to prevent this wet grass chunk.

Great instructional video. I'm probably one of the most inconsistent golfers ever ... I once shot 70 on the front nine and 40 on the back nine ... a difference of 30 shots! Maybe this is some sort of record! I am an athlete too ... Judo, Karate, Tennis, Football, Rugby, Cricket ... hitting a moving ball is so much easier.

Love this Clay. How much does the hip turn very among each club? In other words, this looks like a wood or low iron full hip turn swing. But does a 9 or pitching wedge have the same amount of hip turn? It’s just with shorter clubs? Thank you!!!
@TopSpeedGolf5 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick, all full swings you take should have about the same amount of hip turn regardless of the club. Some swing a little big longer with the driver to try to get some extra speed so you might turn a little more there but it's the same with all other clubs you take a full swing with. Play well! I feel that when I start chunking my 5 wood, I typically take a wider stance like it is a driver width because it’s a longer club and it makes me hit it fat typically. To fix my strike I usually just stand more narrow…like just inside shoulder width so I stand taller at the ball and I hit it on the screws with a nice descending blow. I always have to consciously think to stand talller every time I hit the fairway wood or I will get low and wide on my stance and hit it fat.

How do you coordinate the shallowing of the club with the UPWARD motion of the legs?!?
@TopSpeedGolf3 жыл бұрын
You'll want to be shallowing while still squatting down through the downswing and your arms continue down and through as you're coming through impact. I would start slow with each piece and gradually add speed until I could do it full speed. Best of luck! Nate | TSG Instructor

Hi Clay, great video, I have a quick question. During the backswing, what is your weight distribution between left and right foot? I also watched your video on forward shaft lean and got the impression that we should shift weight to left foot on backswing take away. Please confirm?
@TopSpeedGolf5 жыл бұрын
Hi, you start pretty balanced at address and then the pressure increases in the trail foot as you reach the top of the swing. They tested many Tour players and found the average pressure in the trail foot at the top of the swing was about 75-80%. This shifts to the lead foot at impact. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

Is the ideal divot with say a 7 iron just a light glaze off grass? You see these guys take massive divot on tv all I think about Is a lot of courses especially in summer that ain’t greatly cared and watered would break the head off your club.
@TopSpeedGolf5 жыл бұрын
Hi, usually a good divot it about the size of a dollar bill. If the turf is wet then the divot will be bigger. If the turf is really dry and hard then there won't be as much of a divot. Also, wedges will typically have bigger divots and longer clubs like fairway woods will have shallow divots. Those can but just a roughing up of the grass. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

Hi Douglas, thanks for the feedback. Yeah, that's a great drill too. Not all drill work for everyone. Getting a good weight shift helps with chunking but many people have good weight shifts and still chunk the ball. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
