I believe that Justine Henin is a perfect example for both forehand and backhand.

Great video John! People need to see just how athletic tennis is at a high level. Load and explode 🚀 But how do you load and explode and to have maximum power and still come in slowly to “find the ball”?

Good question! It's the calm before the storm. It ultimately comes down to phenomenal movement and balance. You really can't be balanced unless you are able to move into position and receive the ball in an ideal position. Once to the ball you need to load and remain balance. From the loading phase, the timing has to be impeccable and the angular moment will initiate the swing and create power. I love your questions, keep them coming! JF

@@topspintennis Thanks John, what's your cue to explode? How close to the ball are you when you initiate leg drive?

I'd say it's Dual Objectives, loading for Power & Spin! Also better to think of loading the hips than the knees.

It's interesting you picked Zverev. His forehand has always been his weakness. And it use to be that opponents to hit to his forehand until it breaks. He has improved so maybe it's good to analyze it and see where he made adjustments. His backhand is really phenomenal. He can hit running backhands crosscourt winners with ease while others have to go down the line.

except the guy in the video is not actually Zverev? (as far as I can see)

His problem is the action is too slow because he does so much loading. Means he ends up 4m behind the base line (on hardcourts at least) which is probably standing in the fence on your average recreational court.

Good suggestion to look for how his Fh does falter as he is pulled away from these fundamentals.
