For me personally, I am really trying to focus on being relaxed on the serve, in order to get the most pop and speed on the ball. I struggle with trying to muscle the tennis ball and I don’t achieve a prefect racket drop, and in doing this I cap at around 100mph. I’ve been trying drills to become looser when I serve. But a video on that would be great. Hopefully I crack it in a couple of weeks with the new drills I just started. Keep up the great content! 🎾

Great video! I've noticed that both Kyrgios and Sam Groth toss the ball pretty far into the court. Also, instead of having their off-hand point straight up like most pros, it's pointing at an angle towards the ball (I'm guessing this is because of their ball toss). Do you think this is one of the key reasons why they both have very fast serves relative to their height? I also have a similar ball toss that goes inside the court. I can serve very fast for my height, but my opponents tell me that my first serves are very flat, even compared to other players' flat serves. When I am serving well, this works well. However, on off days I have big problems landing my first serves in. For a shorter player, do you think I should bring my ball toss back a bit so I can impart more spin?
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial4 жыл бұрын
I would say that for sure the ball toss inside the court helps both Kyrgios and Groth and the left hand is like that due to their ball toss, they're tracking the ball still. It's no coincidence that both players are Aussie's. A long history of great servers from down under starting way back with Laver and the other legends of his time. Very similar motions, fast and low tosses. To get more spin, you don't need to change your toss as much as you need to adjust the swing path around contact. Slice would be your best bet, check out this video on the slice serve - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqu4p5uFd9eXpK8
@klaw034 жыл бұрын
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial I've started mixing up my first serves more with slices. Very useful, especially serve+1 from the deuce side. After watching your serve revolution course, I've started focusing on hitting the outside edge of the ball. This tip has helped me hit really aggressive angles. However, this only works if I hold back on my power or otherwise it goes too wide. On slice serves, are you supposed to hold back on your power?
@chunpingding11964 жыл бұрын
I understand that a lower toss is more stable in terms of position accuracy and slower falling down speed, as you mentioned in this video. However, my dilemma is that I need time to get to the trophy position and aim my target while I am in the trophy position, thus I need to toss the ball high to buy me time. what is your advice to solve my issue? Maybe I should I should try to move to the trophy position before I toss the ball? Thank you!
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial4 жыл бұрын
I would work on speeding up your motion, both into the trophy pose and out of that position. Pausing at any point in the motion will reduce your power and effectiveness. Pausing in the trophy pose resets the serve, you might as well serve from that position if you can't build up momentum from the starting position. Check out this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4arZ36AZ7l1l5o

@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Thank you for the reply. A non-stop swing needs perfect timing. Ball throw hight, position, loading, hitting, all need perfect sync. Feel like it is too difficult. I guess I will try to practice reducing the pause time gradually. Your videos are very helpful !

I would like to ask something about how to improve my control over my ball toss because I feel there is something wrong I do at the very beginning of the toss with the orientation of my palm that causes exactly what you say one must not do, i.e. "throwing" instead of "placing". To me the issue is: how must I position my left hand in order to direct the toss to the right height, and without losing control ? Do you have a tip for increasing that control ? Antonietta from Rome.
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Try to have the tossing hand straight, so no bend in the wrist either way, which is a common error that players make. When you flex the wrist, it makes you lose control of the toss. Also try to hold the ball in the fingers, not the palm. That will help you to really feel the motion. And release the ball when you get to around head height. Also work on the toss on its own. Just practice hundreds of mini tosses, if you do those things, you’ll get it 👍 All the best Simon

It sounds like you've got an injured rib. I'd rest it for a while
@TheLukeguy74 жыл бұрын
Anything i've missed from your two videos?: I feel like there is one thing missing maybe? 1. Continental/chopper grip 2.. use your legs to build power into the serve not just arm!3.. Keep your ball toss not too high so your motion of racket back and through is quick so you don't lose momentum 3. Get into the 'trophy position' at one point in the serve but don't stay there too long as you need to keep the momentum going through the serve 4. Keep your left arm (throwing arm) pointing up whilst the ball is in the air until just before you're about to hit it so you keep your upper body balanced so it doesn't collapse 5. Make contact at your optimum maximum height 6. Pronate your wrist after/during you make contact 7. Track/follow the ball with your eyes the whole time from ball toss to hit to opponents return 8. Follow through once you've hit so you have momentum with your body and your arm should follow through and down roughly past your left hip
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial4 жыл бұрын
You could also add the shoulder over shoulder motion, when tossing the ball, that the right shoulder drops, left shoulder rises, then they switch over, you could also modify number three, instead of get into the trophy position, I would focus on passing through that position. Apart from that, great focus on the videos, a true student! All the best Simon

Hi Simon, another great video!Question for you: what is your opinion on calling foot faults? I play regularly at a London-based tennis club. I also play in the Wilson Surrey League. I regularly see players foot fault (sometimes as much as a foot inside the serve line; other times the server stands on the T for a deuce serve with the back foot on the ad side). When I'm playing and it happens I often mention it to my opponent afterwards (whether I win or lose) to avoid disrupting the match. What's your opinion on how best to handle this situation? Thanks
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial4 жыл бұрын
That's a tricky one, I've played players who do that in matches, in fact last September I played a few doubles matches for my club and one opponent was about a foot inside the court when he made contact. We were destroying them so I didn't mention it but if that was a close match and I felt they were getting an unfair advantage, I would call them out for it. At the end of the day, we sign up and agree to the set rules, if I am foot faulting, I'd expect an opponent or umpire to call me out for it. Maybe you could say something at the change of ends, along the lines of "Just wanted to make you aware that you had a few foot faults in that last game, I didn't want to disturb you in the game so I thought I'd mention it now, before your next one" If they continue to do it, the net player can call it and say it's a fault. Expect some seriously bad looks and maybe arguing but that's part of competitive tennis. If it's not helping the player, you could leave it and mention it afterwards but if it's giving them an unfair advantage, I would say something for sure, trying to be as nice as possible to begin. Good luck All the best Simon

Am I doing right? When people come to me and ask advices because they are hitting too many double faults I almost always pin point a major issue: two serves styles. I had a lot of issues in that past with double faults. I decided to stop hitting a first serve. From that time my first serve become my second serve with either more spin/slice or more placement. People tend to have one mechanic for a first serve and a very different one for the second. I find it pretty common. So I always advice them to have the same mechanic and build it by using only the second serve. Concluding: - First serve is your second serve riskier. Try as much as possible to keep the same mechanic as you improve it. - Second serve keeps the same. But it will be improved by the first.

A big tennis ball would be better suited on the table instead of a globe
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial4 жыл бұрын
The globe indicates our intentions of helping players around the entire world, which we're doing already but would like to do on a much bigger scale. A tennis ball would be boring for me, I enjoy seeing a globe as it reminds me that these videos are beaming out to all corners of this planet!

Hi,, The Tips are ok there are some other things what many and many people do wrong and dont understand and especially at club level..Why? because of bullshit Coaches...When did you invent this tips?Because I using the correct one for very long time...So many Videos about tennis and Technique but real palyers are nowhere...Many Coaches I would even take licence for the nonsense....However no offence... you are one of who didnt drink before the video and decide "Hey look I can hit a ball Im the Coach.. Enjoy your day
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial4 жыл бұрын
I understood about 30% of that. So you're blaming bad coaches for players who can't serve correct? It sounds like you've been burned by a bad coach, or someone you perceive as a bad coach and are angry at coaches. Often it's not the coaches who are bad, sometimes it's the player who doesn't work on their game alone, or spend the hours they need to see real progress.

@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial what exactly you dont understand? So again...I saying that many peeple do play wrong in general..especilly at club level...but make it even more clear for you. even many Pro players or players who wanna becomes pro ITF players do many things wrong...the reason is that many Coaches think that they are Coaches ..second of all many coaches doesnt see and understand what they should do and what they actually do..
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Well maybe you should start a channel and help the bad coaches understand what they're doing wrong.

@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial I agree with you that many players dont wirk with them self and thats way they cant improve..but another hand are many players who loved to get better but because they trust coach because they believe that coach should know and understand the game and give the correct tips they just take money and after 1,2,3 years that person is exactly where he begun..do you know what I mean?
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial4 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean, there are certainly bad coaches out there who simply coach for money. I've come across many in my journey
