1 track the ball 2 breathe 3 split step on opponent hit 4 prepare early 5 follow through/finish 6 hit serve at highest point possible 7 shorten swing on returns / hit inside the triangle 8 make volley contact in front 9 adjust strategy/tactics to what works in each match 10 have fun (figure out why you are playing and focus on that)

Thank you Coach Simon. Last time i viewed your videos about this and 5 golden rules of forehand i practiced them right away. I felt instant improvement and so confident on training and i had very enjoyable days ahead. Last night i went on routine training and i missed some of the rules. I was so upset and i caught minor injury. I guess i can't go on training without seeing your videos first.

i dont think people are valuing rule no#10 enough, leylah fernandez at the us open finals is the best example, as soon as you start smiling on the court and forget about the pressure of points and performance, your game will improve so much (and if you still have a bad day, which happens for everyone [djokovic at us open finals], you still reached your ultimate goal, which is going to play tennis for fun)

Regarding commandment #1 -- I stare at a computer screen for too many hours a day at work, so when I go from work to tennis it takes some time to regain depth perception. To help 'retrain' my eyes, I visually track manhole covers and surface features while I'm driving. I make them the focus of my vision, not something in my periphery to simulate a tennis ball coming towards me. I find it helps to really see the ball once I get on court... Now I have to figure out how to let go of all the other work related cr*p that clutters my my brain.
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial3 жыл бұрын
🤣 it’s good you found something that helps the tracking though. Step by step 💪 Good luck with the improvements All the best Simon

Objective: to give more power to the shot and teach tricks on how to aim the ball more precisely

Good video Simon. 4.5 player here, trying to get to that next level. what it comes down to for me is to have fun! I think no matter what level a player is or what he/she is trying to accomplish on the court if they’re not having fun then it’s pointless.

I train weekly with my coach, (ex-top 1000wta) and we practice many of these points. How can Consistency be strengthened? At the end, all these tips together, could improve with intensive wall practices focused on each point, for example? Thank you very much best regards from Spain and congratulations on your channel.

Is there really a big difference from using a new ball every 2 or 4 sets or just reusing tennis balls throughout the year I don’t have money to buy all all the time Am I missing out?
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial2 жыл бұрын
There’s definitely a big difference, but if you can’t afford to buy new balls constantly, just keep going with what you have. Growing up I used the same balls until the hair was all gone. Even now I use balls until they stop bouncing, when that happens I know the pressure is too low and it starts to hurt my arm

Exhalation during hitting allows easier and greater trunk rotation. Just try comparing how much you can turn your trunk while holding your breath vs while exhaling. The expanded chest cavity while holding your breath is stiff.
