My question has always been on when to release my left hand (I’m a righty). Seems like some players almost follow through with it…. I played with a guy with a good one hander the other day and he felt I was releasing too early. When is too early? 😊Nice video bro! Thanks 🎾

I would say any time between the racket drop phase and the lag phase is a good release point. Before then it’s too early to

@Huseyinisiksel.4924 Жыл бұрын
It looks different than a standard eastern bachand grip. I think his palm is on bevel 8 and index knuckle between bevel 1 and 2. It's either like this or he holds eastern backhand with a hammer grip.

Simon are you using 1 or 2 handed your matches? I don't see many coaches talking about one handed BH being BETTER than 2 handed. I particularly think one handed is better unless you learned 2 handed since childhood

Can you explain why the one hander can feel so different compared to a two hander?
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial8 ай бұрын
It’s a very different shot. One hander you’re relying on arm extension and shoulder/scapula stability/strength whilst for the two hander we can focus more on trunk rotation and power generation from the top hand, as if we’re hitting a left handed forehand
@ronm71148 ай бұрын
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial tx, i think a one hander is also more from the heart. Since forehand is related to ego. Which is why u can correct a lot more with it, thus as well with the two hander. The heart is more pure, thus the technique on the one hander needs to be very good. Since u cant correct much with a one hander. Thats my take. I also think that heart carries over to the forehand giving it more power when playing with a one hander and sense of freedom.

Simon, all excellent points in terms of what a national, international player achieves when they hit theor one hamded backhand. Are there any tips that would help a beginner, intermediate, advanced or slightly higher to achieve these aspects. Especially, how ro hit in front? I dont believe a player intemds to hit a little late but it is that none of these yiutune videos explain how to hit futher in front, in terms of what acrually helps a player like yourself, hit further in front. Ive actually hit with you and played points against against you but this video fails to explain the core teaching aspects that helps a beginner, intermediate or advanced player actually develop
@TennisCourtSIdeView Жыл бұрын
I meant to add. All of these things can be explained within their understanding of a practice swing and the important aspects to develop, understand but as a coach, it is important to explain how they can achieve these things, as, players by themselves, may understand the technical explanation but struggle when a ball is travelling towards them. I'm conscious that I never see this explained in these videos. For me, that would be the most important thing, because they will then feel in control and start to develop, or enhance, in the case of an advanced or national player, by doing these other things that you don't mention
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Жыл бұрын
Making contact in front comes down to many factors, being in the right position (footwork) having an ideal backswing, tracking the ball properly from the time it comes off the opponents racket, early preparation, and using the correct stance for that particular shot all play a part. For mastering the technique of this shot, we have a step by step system that we use which is what our backhand course on our website is based on. This video may help you with timing though - kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2ivfHiGmttses0feature=shared

The rise of the two-handed backhand is mainly due to the fact that the age at which kids start playing tennis is getting younger and younger. Children have more power and of course more stability with the two-handed backhand than with the one-handed backhand.
