TOP 5 Ways To Improve Your Tennis Game ALONE
When it comes to improving your tennis, training is everything. However, it's not always possible to find good practice partners who are willing to spend countless hours on court working on their game.
That doesn't mean the improvements should stop for you though.
Here are the five best ways to improve your tennis game alone.
Method One
Improving your serve alone. It's a no-brainer to practice serves alone on a consistent basis, yet how many players actually do this?
I've been to countless tennis clubs around the world and rarely see people working on their serve, alone. You can work on your precision, your consistency and your power.
Method Two
Footwork and movement training. Footwork is the glue that bonds our entire game together, yet so few players actually work on their footwork. If you don't have a practice set up, it's a great time to then spend improving your tennis-specific movement alone. And why not spend 10-15 minutes working on your footwork regularly?
Method Three
Training against a tennis wall. Tennis is ultimately a game of sending and receiving a tennis ball. With a wall, you practice both of these skills. Plus against a wall, you have half the time you normally would in a normal rally or point.
This forces you to be faster with your feet, prepare earlier, and shorten your backswings, all whilst improving your reaction times.
There are so many drills you can do against a wall, here are some - • Tennis Wall Drills | 2...
Method Four
Training with a tennis ball machine. The major advantage that training with a machine has over using a wall is that you can see where each shot is going. When you hit against a wall, you won't know where that shot is landing on a real court. However, with the ball machine, you can see exactly where each ball is landing and work on your accuracy, your consistency, and your power.
Here are some ball machine drills you can use - • Tennis Ball Machine Dr...
Method Five
Becoming a better athlete. This may mean spending more time in the gym, going for runs in the great outdoors, doing more flexibility work such as stretching or yoga, or working on your fitness doing interval training. Whatever shape you're currently in, you can always get better. Even the best athletes of all time like Djokovic and Nadal are looking for ways to become even better athletes.

Excellent video once again, Simon. I have been practicing less over the last couple of months - I'm inspired again up use the ball machine and practice my serve again 💪. Would you be able to do a video on how to properly select the right racket, strings, and string tension? Thanks again. TTT is by far my favorite tennis instruction channel!

great video!!!! Many of us of course need to practice and very few of us has the budget to hire a coach, so practicing alone is a big benefit to improve your game. I would appreciate it if you can introduce us with more of this type of "practicing alone" videos. thanks a lot.

Thank you. Playing at the wall is really very effective. Even if you have to work long it helps because just 30 min is so effectiv as 60 min normal play and 90 min with a weaker player....

@willkittwk

@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial yep. And it took time to disguise my serve to Ad side. Messed around with it a lot. What I ended up doing is going to a more side saddle stance and adjusting my toss so it's just about 12 o'clock when going out wide flat to the rightys BH as I get a sharper angle ( more aces and weak returns. I can switch to a T serve quickly and it's harder for returner to pick up which way I'm going. I saw your lesson on the " dirty diaper" technique ala Pete Sampras. I was a bit closed minded till I started practicing it. It helped getting my flat hard serve on Ad side out wide and sharper angle in service box. So I kept your lesson in mind.

There’s always a chance to develop your skills. Regarding the professional game, it’s a very hard sport to succeed in and requires a ridiculous amount of financial resources. But, it’s always possible if you’re training hard and competing often against the best players your age

I still think you didn’t cover the BIGGEST thing to practice on your own. Technique. When you have another person a ross from you you can’t go about completely changing your forehand or serve or it’s gonna go out. You need time on your own to improve your technique, record yourself. I think this is by far the most important practice on your own
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial 4 ай бұрын
You’re right, I never mentioned why using the machine and wall, along with the serve practice is so important: technical changes. It’s almost impossible to change technique in a rally setting but very straightforward in a ball machine setting for example

Where are you paying $40 for an indoor court? Most indoor clubs in the UK for example, have a free court booking system for their members. Some have fees for peak hours or weekends but it’s normally £10 an hour or so even during peak times. Even Queens club is cheaper than that
