Yes the San Joaquin River side stays a little cleaner. Whenever the Yolo bypass floods the Sac side gets real muddy. This year we have got a lot of water but it's been real cold at nights in the thirties and has put the fish down not feeding as much as normal. When our night time temp get around in the mid forties I think the bite will turn on. SPRING

Yes, Mildred is clear right now but I’ve had problems with sea lions scaring away big school of stripers and causing them to not bite.

yes but usually the stripers won't go to far and I watch for birds

What is the make and model of the swimbait rod you had on stage that was softer than the heavy action rods that you didn't like? Thanks

I had some custom Loomis blanks I built long ago and the best all around rod that I use is a G Loomis IMX 964 BBR for swimbaits n a rigs

Why is it harder to catch stripers in the river system with the same topwater/glide bait that we use to catch them in the delta ?

In the fall thru the winter the stripers are feeding in shallow flats or flooded islands. Top water and glide bats are the best lures during this time. As spring comes the stripers are making there way up into our river system to spawn. Their in deeper water and will usually feed on small fish or cut bait.

My first choice would be the megadog or the IMA big stick you can get at Fishermans Warehouse or any tackle store.

I would say Dobyn's makes a nice one in the Fury series, most manufactures make pretty good swimbait rods.

Yes that action will work. Are you gonna build casting or spinning rods? Spinning rods are hard on your fingers when casting heavy lures

For swimbaits and A rigs you need lot longer and stiffer rods. I use 7'11" MH swimbait rods.

might be little light and the rod become tip heavy. If you have a 200 size reel might fit better
