Topwater ONLY Day of Bass Fishing!

Today we are fishing with topwater lures only! I went out to my local water and decided to fish with only topwater lures and we ended up catching a bunch of bass and even a few big bass! The bass were loving these topwater baits and it was an awesome day of bass fishing!

Nice video! What's the rod and line setup that you are using for the plopper and poppers?

Plopper is a mach smash 7’ m/H with monofilament (15 lb I think) Popper was a 7’ medium action lews rod with a 7.1:1 reel and monofilament as well! Honestly any rod that has good bend to it will work and any speed reel should be okay, you just may want a bit faster reel for reeling the patroller!

I see people do that all the time, they have a follower and stop the bait lol. Bait fish dont stop most the time they get erratic and run. Try 3 or 4 quick pops when yoi have one under the popper like that then pause for a second. Generally thay causes a reaction bite because the fish think its going to get away.

I do a bit of both honestly, but yes I do agree with moving the bait fast like a fleeing baitfish! I had a few fish follow the popper and when I stopped it they ate it, I think the biggest thing right now is if the bait is over the bed the more you let it sit is better. I've found that if I move it away fast away from the bed sometimes they give up on chasing it because they aren't actually feeding but they are just defending their eggs. 🐟

@@ADUB1 even if they defending a bed they'll generally attack a quick couple pops from that bait thinking it is trying to feed on fry, looking to dive for eggs or just fleeing them. Sometimes it does take a few casts though. I've never really seen to much topwater action from actual locked on bed fish. That's usually fry protectors, pre spawn or the males that's jist off beds while the female is locked on. Most the time if they are on that bed I've only seen them be caught by placing something right in or on the edge of the bed lol. Awesome seeing toowater bites again though, good luck out there and tight lines bro.
