A fun fact, in Denmark not too long ago, some kids did not want to do a test that required internet connection. So they bought a DDOS attack for estimated 5 euros to shut down their school, what they did not know was the fact that 20 other school or so was connect to the same network, so the attack ended up shutting down internet for over 3000 computers. A whole region

I think the reason why haystack didn't work was because JS is disabled. You can see it wasn't loading a new page, but just blanking out. Which seems to be JS not working properly as we disabled it.

virgin javascript chad html + css honestly if you're making a search engine for onionland with javascript, that showed you're either a noob oniondev or incompetent. always go with the assumption that JS is off for most users.

This is really interesting, and is really relevant for the study I am doing in both psychology(I am interested in why someone may want to go down the so-called "Dark Path") and security. Keep up the good work John your a legend.

@@garyberry7568 why are you on that path?
@garyberry75682 жыл бұрын
@@mjohnson116 I wouldn't call it a dark path. I've always been interested in security since a kid. I once got phished when I was young and I got obsessed with understanding how it was done. That led me down the path of understanding hacking. Now I study computer science with a focus on Information security.

Hi John, thank you for creating this series initiative, I am looking forward to continuing this "artistic" "scientific" and "educational" journey through this intriguing inter-web of vacuous wayward virtualization of node technology and multi-layer encryption and the collective paranoia contradictory to the anonymity offered by the onion router network. I am interested in what the bad guys are up t and have to know more!. It would be very helpful if you could please give some guidance about how to set up proxies in the Tails browser as well as maybe setting up a VPN in the cloud. I could probably do it but I don't fully understand the effect of the process, i.e. how things work and why, I would rather get it right, first time, which needs to come from someone with experience, that person is you John! Also I'm curious about the network tools in Tails,, setting up a proxy or VPN in Virtual Box itself is another dream! I hope you can cover some of this in future documentaries! Thank you :)

Love this series; love your enthusiasm - and the "grain of salt" gestures & expressions you make THROUGHOUT!! - I would like you to explore something along the lines of: "See if your info is already on this version of the web." .....that's right, I did not use "Dark" "Deep" "Hidden".....based on the ads / sidebars it would more aptly be called "90s Web" or "Web v1" ;p

I know it’s technically backwards, but I’ve always considered the un-indexed part of the internet as the “deep web” and the “dark web” as the part where all the shady shit happens.

For the websites that are not loading, since you disabled all javascript, the websites that require javascript to load won't load, this might explain the behavior you're seeing.

So that way traces or logs of your session cannot be stored whatsoever. As when you shut down tails, it wipes everything ready for the next session

Do you need to configure all of these settings every time you boot up? If so, can you make the operating system persist, change settings, and return to a non-persistent mode?
@pajamac553 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can make tails os persistent. Just google "tails persistent storage" and the first link will help you with that. Note that you will lose some of the security aspects from having a "live" and always a clean operating system.
