Great video again ! What could you have done differently to negate the saddle soar issues you experienced?

Thanks! I am getting too much pressure under the sit bones. It's worse when sitting upright on an MTB. My Selle SMP saddle is supposed to concentrate the weight on the sit bones, so I guess it's just the wrong saddle for me.

Fabulous series of videos Tor, thank you. What tyres did you ride on?

Thanks! I used Mezcal XC Trail 2.35", and I liked them. No punctures.

Tor i have watched all your videos you were able to give us such a good view from a "normal" guy not racing for podium. how do you split your navigation? do you have 2 x gps devices, one running the whole time, and the other split per segment or per day, to make navigation easier? and then you collate all gpx file together at the end or how do you do it?

Thank you! I used only my Garmin 1030. I had a Garmin 820 in reserve as well, but didn't need it. I used the GPX routes that were split into 10 stages by the organiser. I stopped my activity once or more per day in order to save it, then started again. When I got home, I combined all the recorded data into one file and uploaded to Strava. I needed to simplify the file a little, as Strava has a 25 MB file limit.

@@TorHovland awesome thanks man. i see your sleeping bag had some sort of a rigid head cover? with all the dog issues, is this something you recommend? what sleeping bag did you use?
@TorHovland7 ай бұрын
@@NabilRobiati The head cover is on my Outdoor Research Helium bivy bag. I never had any problems with dogs, but you'll need it for rain cover. You can drop it if you risk it for no rain. My sleeping bag was a Marmot Hydrogen, and turned out to be a bit overkill. It would have been useful if it was cold as in 2023.

Hi Tor - I'm really enjoying all your videos from the AMR :) - Hey, just wondering what your tyre choice was and width, along with your Bivy / Sleeping set up??

Thanks! I was running Mezcal 2.35" tires, and an Oregon Research Helium bivy. There are loads more details in my report at www.sykkel.org/topic/1617-rapport-fr%C3%A5-atlas-mountain-race

@@TorHovland Thanks Tor - That's a Tyre I know well :) I'm heading to the Tour Divide Grand Depart in a few weeks and will be running that exact tyre and width. The Helium Bivy is also very popular.....really hoping to make the 2025 AMR start line. Will you be returning for another adventure? Thanks also for that link. I'll have a read today. Cheers, Steve.

@@stephenhammond3656 Wow, good luck with Tour Divide! I won't be doing AMR again, but only because there are so many other events. This summer I'll be doing the Length of Sweden.

@@TorHovland Thank you : - Enjoy Sweden, in 2022 I rode the European Divide Trail from Grenske Jacob Selve....so I know bikepacking through Sweden quite well. It was fantastic!

@@stephenhammond3656 Oh wow, you've done that route! That's pretty much as epic as it gets!
