The first time I heard this song in a church in Berlin, I couldn't speak that night. My friend had bought me the concert tickets and wanted to spend a nice evening with me. No chance, I just felt that something had changed forever. From then on it was still a long way to go.

Ths way this is written, then sung....loaded, short, sharp. Speaks to so very many of us. You know who you are. Even those of us who were only children, like me, repainted memories or partly blocked out. Only learned in my late 50s it was PTSD thats kept me trapped and frozen away from my childhood. Something like this hasnt luckily ever happened to me, but I indeed know how it feels, to never be the same human ever again and exactly know it, but there is nothing you can do against it.

Tori Amos claimed that she was raped at knifepoint when she was in her early twenties but she did not report the said incident to the authorities despite her principle involvement in a sexual assault information charity. Why didn’t she report that claimed event to the authorities? Is it because she did not want to risk being charged with a crime where she even risked being imprisoned for lying to the authorities?

I suggest that you watch the Prime Time Live 1996 (abc interview). Here Tori explains exactly why she never pressed charges. Which, by the way, I can fully understand. I too, have chosen not to report my abuser. So following your logic, that would mean that the abuse never happend? Man, I wish!
