I came across this whole session a year or two ago. I just want to hear Tori talking with Sting. No one else belongs there. They are not songwriters on the same level at all. Sting himself is on a whole other tier.

Justin's cringeworthy attempt to one-up Pharrell was childishly pathetic, he burned so bad it must have hurt him to the core when Tori hugged Pharrell. This piece of word play was the most audacious comment at that table without a doubt. She would have kissed him right then and there if he had asked. For a very fleeting instant you can tell she felt hysterically smitten, she abruptly lost the gravitas for a few seconds, I blushed just by looking at her sudden outburst of joy. He took her so off guard he halted her composure, her face blossomed and gleamed! to evoke such a genuine reaction is an absolute stroke of genius. hats off to Pharrell, respect!

These are little preview trailers and a full version, usually around 50-70 minutes, will be airing on the sundance channel in February and uploaded on youtube shortly after. They do this every year for various professions and for various award shows like the tonys, emmys and currently the oscars.

"You're not touching these pianos!" Ha! So adorable. The comment about "the industry" always chasing what already happened is relevant. Followers chasing leaders like game, hunting for the next human trophy. Sadly fortunes are made by followers, who too often have no clue what they are following beyond what they can cash in on. Does it fit the formula? The corporate monopoly of art. So little investment in humanity, in what creates leaders. So little freedom, because wealth is never really distributed, it is ACCUMULATED, in the hands of fewer and fewer. Exclusive everything. The need to control and to own and to compare keeps us clutching the safe and the reliable. Forever one-upping the last extreme at the expense of honest expression and true diversity, because who can afford that? More and more it takes a perfect storm just to be human. Every drop of moisture forcing the flower to justify itself until the drink no longer satisfies. Never just trusting, just giving people what they need to simply be. The mechanics of it all can be soul crushing. Sometimes you wonder, who are we doing it for? For the collective good, and for the lives we change we often never even know.

Why are you talking about aging! Is this all you get out of this. So shallow.
@EscargoTouChaud
@EscargoTouChaud 5 жыл бұрын
I don't mind her ageing, but the plastic surgery just made her look a bit "tight" in the face. She does what she wants, and the pressure to look good in the US pop industry is maybe strong. It was strange to see her with that tight skin. She is still a quality artist like few others.

I think THR are pushing it a bit far with a roundtable on pop artists and their movie tie-in songs.. Leave it to Composers and other integral parts of the movies.

It’s hilarious how Sting doesn’t speak. He lets Tori have her moment. These other fools who can only write songs about as complex and innovative as the alphabet interrupt with non sensical inputs that give nothing to the conversation. This should have just been Tori and Sting talking to each other. A waste of an interview really.

hi, can someone help me to understand the joke about "an other man again"? 😅
@jwitherspoon8885
@jwitherspoon8885 7 жыл бұрын
When she said "another man again," she meant that even though they approved her piano heavy music, they were trying to send another person (a man most likely) to take control of her project. Not sure why JT and Pharrell thought "another mannequin" was so clever.
@WitchlightNW
@WitchlightNW 7 жыл бұрын
another man again another mannequin - another person that is a puppet of the music industry trying to impress the ideals of others (that's how i interpret it anyway) - not a real human being emoting to her music but one that is fixed in a position ;)
@MADEbySOUL
@MADEbySOUL 7 жыл бұрын
"So you are bringing another man again!" "So you are bringing another mannequin!" So it a play on words. How bringing another male to her work will be like having another slave of the music industry. Mannequins are fake and plastic so it is like that man will be the same too.

Everything I thought I knew about Tori and her music has been completely obliterated by the plastic surgery. How wrong were we about her!? Feel totally betrayed and disappointed.
@hosiolah669

You've got to respect others decisions and accept that you don't understand what's going on in her head. The ladies a musical genius and a fighter for everyone who's been sexually assaulted and you feel betrayed? She's dressed up silly and worn crazy makeup for years, this is what she's doing now. It really doesn't matter.
@HairyKid01
@HairyKid01 7 жыл бұрын
It does, to me it does. Because it demonstrates she is just like all the rest: Superficial! But at least the other pop artists didn't lie to everyone about how 'deep' they are. The make up and elaborate clothes are irrelevant in this context, because the context is emotional deception. I don't care what she wears or looks like, I care for what I thought she stood for as a person and through her music.

You write about her as if she's committed a crime... She's an artist, not Jesus. Perhaps, if women weren't largely glorified and overvalued based on their looks, things would be different today. Your reaction alone to her physical changes proves that point. You can say you don't care what she looks like, however you do and that's the problem. Tori stands for being who you want to be, loving yourself and doing whatever it takes to build that self admiration(without hurting others). I trust her judgement, if she wanted to do to this, then she's being true to herself. Now let's say she sexually assaults someone, then she is a phony. Instead of that she's contributed a lot to the fight against sexual assault. You may fell betrayed or even disappointed, but I suggest you really question the merit to those feelings and whether they're really as admirable as you claim.
