Man, I was lucky enough to see her in 1998, on this tour with the band, and it was one of the best performances I've ever seen. She's so passionate, and has a shitload of swagger on stage. Not to mention, she's one of the most beautiful humans I've ever seen in person. Just jaw dropping. She's so unique and special.

Tori is a beast. Writes music and lyrics, plays, produces... her live performances were like getting religion injected into your veins! Also, she only had one mainstream hit but her albums would sell like crazy and her followers for live performances were like a cult! Check out Professional Widow and Silent All These Years.

She still tours (or did, pre-COVID) and you should absolutely go to a show if she's ever in your town. I've seen her probably half a dozen times, mostly back in the 90s, and she puts on a hell of a show.

Sessions at West 54th Street featured some amazing artists. Tori Amos was outstanding from start to finish. My favorite versions of "Caught a lite sneeze"; "Cooling"; "Iieee" and "Precious Things" are all in this one performance. I stand by my statement that Tori was on another planet here. She will always be my favorite female artist. And this performance is just aces. I am so glad that you enjoyed it. 😀

In interviews she talks about the meaning of this song in an abstract way, but I feel like the metaphors in precious things aren't as deep as some of her other songs. The lyrics are somehow abstract and literal at the same time. To Venus and Back is still the best album ever in my opinion. It doesn't seem like he knows what it's about but I like that he appreciates her talent all the same.
